I'm sorry, but with the way people here in Georgia/Atlanta drive, I do not consider 10mph over the limit to truly be speeding. I'd see it more as a technicality, albeit one for which you could be given a ticket. Although 95 in a 65 is a bit excessive, yes.

Where did this flow of traffic come from? It's still speeding, regardless of whether or not everyone does it. Someone has to start off going 80, then the rest follow, and say it's "flow of traffic". They're called Speed Limits for a reason.

If you want to speed, go for it, but if you get pulled over, suck it up and pay the fine. Granted, I don't think sm8000 was whining about it, but the other ticket threads I read, people blame the cops for getting pulled over, and not themselves.

Never drive faster than the flow of traffic... if you must lead... don't go 5mph faster than the rest. If the road is empty, don't go anymore than 8mph above.

Never have. I'm always honest with the officer, and when I had to go to court, I pled guilty both times, hence why I didn't lose my license that long.

I think people think how traffic is in their area is how it is everywhere. I live in NH, and I primarily drive those speeds to and from work...but I work 11pm -7am. When I go to work, there is no traffic, and when I come home, it's all going the opposite direction. I never go faster than conditions allow, nor do I weave or drive recklessly. I have a highly modified Mustang, with a substantially upgraded suspension and upgraded brakes. My suspension is such that under 60mph, it's quite harsh, but above 75-80mph, it smooths right out and is a pleasure to drive. I normally travel 85mph as traffic allows (in a 65mph). I would not drive that fast in a econobox or the like. Also, I do all the work on my car, so I know things are in excellent working order.

Your problem is that you haven't invested in a good radar detector. May I suggest a nice ValentineOne or Passport 8500 X50. If you want to go a little further, a nice laser jammer comes in handy too. They run MUCH cheaper than $1048.

Meh...Valentine is overrated and out of date. Passport is nice, but I still prefer the Bel 985 over either of them. Mine has saved me soooooooooo many times.

My favorite thing is when there is a speed trap ahead, I go like 50 in a 65mph and glance over @ the cop...heh.

I always wondered about those jammers. So does it just screw w/ the police's radar guns? Like they won't be able to get a reading of how fast you are going?

If so, let's say you were going 100mph, and they scan you, but it gets jammed. Don't they still have the authority to pull you over from just "seeing" how fast you were going? Their judgment of how fast you are going is sufficient enough for them to pull you over still right?

When the traffic is light enough for it a huge percentage of the drivers here go at 80 and frequently large chunks of vehicles will be doing in the low 80s along the I65 through birmingham, or anywhere in alabama for that matter. A car with any power will go from, let's say 82, to 90 in no time at all. If you think that 90 in a 70 is murderously dangerous you're either in a rust bucket or you're an old fogie, or both!

I totally uber-owned myself on the way home from work today. I got a ticket for 78 in a 65... and I was going with the flow of traffic.
