Don't Bring A Knife To A Gun Fight.

He kicked the door in once before?!
Cvengros said it was the second time that Thomas had broken into his apartment. The suspect kicked the door in months earlier because the music was too loud. That incident led Cvengros to buy the weapon he used to stop Thomas.
The apartment complex should have put in a stronger door! Apparently, the guy knows he can kick through any door with nearly no effort at all. The chain and deadbolt are laughably worthless and, apparently, the apartment management knows it.

3 bullets to the chest and he is not dead?

I would have kept shooting until there was no more movements.

I wonder if you can moan and speak for so long with punctured lungs.

Apparently, he hadn't owned the gun for very long. He might not know that you're supposed to aim for center mass.

I'm waiting for the dozen or so threads about how nothing short of a howitzer has good enough "stopping power" for home invasions.

Shooter was smart to stop there, once the dude is on the ground and cops are on the way he is no longer considered a "threat", continuing to pump rounds into him at that point could lead to charges against the homeowner. Apartment lessee should insist on a better quality door be installed, if the occupants were asleep when this whack-job did this he would have been on the occupants just as the noise was waking them up and he might not have time to get the gun.

TIL they use cardboard for doors in FL.

It's an interior door, not a security door. Most interior doors are just plyscore (or something very thin) over glued cardboard.

I agree that's its way too light for it's purpose here, but I imagine most apartment complexes use fairly light doors for the individual units, with the security doors at the entrance to the complex.

holy shit, that is crazy. you can tell how it fucked up the homeowner too, he did not want to be shooting anybody, regardless of them coming at him with a weapon. now he has to live with that too. sucks for him.

You can still swing a machete on the ground.

I probably would have bee so hyped up the whole clip would be gone.

Your hair clip might fall out?
