NOT HOT!

Notice how the one schedule for 6:00PM PST all of the sudden went from quantity 150 to quantity 39.

Doesn't make me want to trust uBid.

Is the auction still going?
I see a $104 price on the highest bidder.
Getting really close to the lowest pricewatch vendor.
I can understand now why some people say auctions are not a hot deal.
Really bad to compete with people with more money to lose than you do.

Yep, $125 delivered for OEM version on pricewatch. In stock, 1 day shipping.

I've had several OEM and retail Visiontek's, and there is ZERO difference except packaging.

My my... how the mighty have fallen. I remember just yesterday this card was $399 and everyone was drooling all over it.

Will we ever learn people? Will we ever save/invest our money instead of spending it on tech-junk soon to thrown in the trash?

Er... probably not. (heh heh)

Thanks. Rest assured it won't happen again. I didn't know I couldn't post auctions. When i first posted it I could of swore ubid had this at a fixed price, like buy it now. 🙁 That's why i posted 428 @ $101.97 shipped each.

Ubid = Shillbid

If you happen to win anything at reasonable, good price, it will be defective.

When you receive the product, it will say "refurbished" but the product only got to Step 1 where they attach the "Refurbished" label to the product, not Step 2 where they actually fix the product.

Also, are a pain to return defective products. You have to get the BBB on their arses to make them refund you $.

18 minutes went between 2 bids, and the a$$holes didn't close the auction - what a rip. I guess they violate their own auction rules (10 minutes of no bids until auction end) to get the price they want. Pretty pathetic, I remember about 2-3 years ago they were fairly accurate, and they also used to have a 5 minute rule.

Didn't they even have some software that would time the end of auction for you - I cannot find it anywhere now...

Thanks uo7
Yes, I know auctions are against the rules, and ubid sucks, but there are brief moments when you can get a good deal.
This was one of those.
I picked up 2 at $99 each. So around $225 delivered for two.

Prior to doing that, did a quick check on e8ay.
Same cards sold for $175 with Buy It Now.
So after I sell the extra for $150+, it will end up costing me $75 delivered for a GF3 Ti500.
Can probably get that $75 for of my current VT GF3 Ti200, so it should be a free upgrade.
That is the way I've been doing stuff for years, thanks to this forum, and crap auction sites.

RobsTV,

Don't count your eggs yet... They may yet weasel out of this deal by saying, e.g. that they don't actually have these cards...

I went ahead and saved the page, as well as printing it out, so there is documentation in case they want to pull a fast one.

Heh, also, if you get the cards, don't you think the prices will nose dive, as there will be hundreds of new Ti500 offerings ;-(

Hey RobsTV,

Don't expect to get that much on ebay NOW, considering the fact that there will be hundred of this card put on ebay if this deal comes through.

Besides how do the Radeon 8500 compare to this card. The radeon can be had for under $100. Atleast you don't have to deal with the ubit BS

I agree. Although i don't agree with other people saying ubid uses shill bidding. What i think really happens is dealers etc. are buying deals like this in huge quantity, and selling them on ebay. Someone bids on 100 cards etc. and people cry shill. 🙂

The GF3 Ti500 is slightly faster than the 8500.

As I said, I've been doing this for years, and have seen it all before
I do not expect to get the $175 going price today. $150 though is possible.
There also will not be 100's up on e8ay due to this sale.
If you noticed, the majority bought 1 or 2 cards, and only about 10 buyers bought more than 5,
with the max one person bought being 50 cards. It hurts the seller if he puts up more than one
at a time, as he will be competing with himself. So yes, quantity for sale will go up, but not by much.
That's how it always has worked in the past, and this should be no different.

Just trying to throw another angle onto Hot Deal hunting. Free upgrades.

Ubid DOES do shill bidding.

If a popular auction item attracts bids, a hired Ubid person will come in and buy all or most of the quantity at HIGHER than it's retail value.

Why would a merchant buy at higher than retail price to sell at lower than retail price at Ebay?!

Ebay sellers make money by buying low and selling higher at Ebay.

Since the shill transaction was fraudulent and no one actually bought the items, the next week, you will see the same items being listed because no one bid at a price at which they were willing to sell. This shilling will keep going on until real buyers bid at a higher price at which they are willing to sell.

Also, Ubid's shipping costs are highly inflated, especially for larger objects.

UBid shills like crazy. If you keep tabs on the item over a couple weeks, Ubid's shilling will become very obvious.

Wow...after all the negative comments on shipping delays, I was pleasantly surprised to see mine already shipped. Should be here Monday...

So far, so good, but I still don't trust uBid...

My card shipped the day after the auction closed and got here this morning. Have not installed it yet but it was packaged well, it is a brand new card in retail package etc. I am surprised after reading all the horror stories but It was well worth it.
