I realize not everyone likes ubid.com. I wouldn't of posted this normaly but In this case 428 of these are available for $101.97 after shipping each. My first post on Hot Deals so if this is a bad deal, Flame On :)

I hate Ubid and I thought I'll never say this but ....

This is a pretty good deal. It beats out many of the gf4 (including the higher end ones) in many tests

That is an auction site, it's not even near hot once everybody and their dogs come bid on it.

Um, it beats out the GF4 MXs, NOT the higher end GF4s.

About the deal, don't forget to add $13 shipping to the final price. I'm not sure I'd pay over $100 for any GeForce3 at this point.

From personal experience, it would have to be very sizzling hot deal and have absolute confidence that I would receive what was listed to put up with Ubid and its business practices. Let me list the issues:

Misrepresentation of merchandise.

Overpriced shipping.

Unreasonably slow shipping to the point of negligence. When they say "1-5" days to process, they mean 5 days before they ship.

Horrible customer service.

Cannot prove it but have no doubt that shill bidding is rampant. For those who don't understand this term, it means bogus bids to artifically raise the price.

Furthermore, because it is an auction site (or they want you to believe it is), I even wonder why this post is listed. Personally, I hope the FTC shuts this outfit down or they become the next Egghead.

I hate to bust your balls about it, but you're not allowed to post auction sites here.

I have won about 50 auctions off of Ubid and have to agree with everything "Mac" states.

Be prepared to battle Ubid with your CC company.

But I'm in for 20 :)

I realize "auctions" aren't considered hot deals, but this is a sweet deal. If a store was selling NIB Visiontek GF3 Ti500's for $102 shipped, people would be all over it. Hell, people were all over the refurbs for just a few dollars cheaper from compgeeks.

There are only 213 out of 428 spoken for with about two and a half hours left on the auction. Pretty darn good if you're in the market for a Ti500.

Over a year ago I won an auction at Ubid and got a very good price on a monitor. It was actually a great price, so great that Ubid sent me an e-mail saying they did not have the product. They actually reneged on the contract! :disgust:

Reneging on winning bids should be added to "Mac's" list.

IMHO I do not think it is worth the time to try to do business with Ubid. You may get lucky a few times, but eventually you will get stung.

Ubid used to be a great place to buy stuff back in 1998-99, I've bought a number of expensive items (Thinkpad, 21" and 19" monitors, speakers, etc) for a great price, and the service back then was great. Anyone remember the $8 Fedex overnight shipping?

I got some GREAT deals from Ubid when they first started a few yrs ago. Sharp Hi8mm camcorder (refurb) but for $225 or so). H/K receiver, H/K 5.1 surrounds for HT (both dirt cheap) and a few other items. They were good in the begining. I wouldn't buy toilet paper from them now!

"We're sorry. Our employee forgot to fraudulently bid on this item to run the price up before you "won". If we sold this to you so cheap, we'd lose money & go out of business. Please come again."

I"ve seen this kind of crap at so-called "Public Auto Auctions". Several yrs ago i was looking for a honda civic, and found one @ one of these "auctions". Some mexicans ran up the bids higher than i liked, so i left. Next week, i decide to go again & see what else they have. What do i see, but that same blue civic. Me thinks, "hmm. i guess Pedro couldn't afford it after all." I'm looking at it, and this couple walks by, the guy says "Hey, they sold this car 2 weeks ago". Few minutes later, another guy passes by, "Huh. someone bought this car 3 weeks ago. Guess it didn't work out."

Why is this thread still open?
Could be that this is a "quasi-auction" with so many(428) available for a flat rate!

I got in on it (there are still about 161 up for grabs).

Will be interesting to see if the $89.00 price holds up against any late action-I expect to get dropped off the bottom.

DF- you going in for another 100?;)

Sooooooo tempting.....

I almost went for it, but my one experience with uBid was so bad that I just won't risk it.

And whoever said "those popups are annoying" was right on. They have definitely boosted their advertising.

So long uBad!

I've actually had good experience with Ubid... Enough so I was willing to go in on it...

Better than the card I bought for 300-400$ one year ago =(

Plenty of time left folks. ubid.com is last bid + 10 minutes before ANY auction will end. It's usually 11 or 12 min.; I once waited 17 minutes past the last bid. With the auto-rebids happening now, this will be open for another hour. I'll get my 3 at $89, but some of you may need to re-bid for 2 at $89 or hit the next one w/150 that ends tonight.

It's too bad that these auction posts are not permitted.. this for instance seems like a pretty hot deal... I'm in for one.
