Aviation has always used military time. This should be a no-brainer.Originally posted by: mercanucaribe
Why would they use military time? Does the extra ink to write "am" really cost that much?

So the printout said 1:35 without an AM/PM designation, and your parents thought it was safe to assume one over the other?
Your parents are SOL.
No sh!t. I can't believe anyone is stupid enough not to realize that nearly all travel times are standardized in 24 hour time.

No sh!t. I can't believe anyone is stupid enough not to realize that people who never/rarely travel wouldn't know that travel times are standardized in 24 hour time.

Sarcastic remarks aside, if someone told you to be somewhere at 9 'o' clock, wouldn't you ASK THEM if they meant AM or PM?
You don't have to travel a lot, or know a lot about aviation, to simply ask for a basic detail instead of assume.

The only aviators involved are the pilots. Selling tickets to passengers who may or may not even know what military time is isn't aviation, it's the tourist industry.

No sh!t. I can't believe someone that travels so rarely wouldn't double-check on departure time and flight status at least a day before the flight.
not the case for the flight I just booked. It states AM or PM. American Airlines / Travelocity.Originally posted by: RyanSengara
Flight times are in military time so stuff like this doesn't happen.

Tickets to Cuba cost as much as the whole vacation in the cheapest place so that's not an option. Also, one way tickets aren't cheaper at all because there is nobody going one way from Cuba, if you know what I mean.
Another b1tch is that we have some lame holiday tomorrow so the offices are all closed until tuesday...
I got some good ideas from here but mostly this was a bad idea to post it since people would rather ROFL than help.

And that's my problem with the OP. He's not looking for help, he's looking for some angle to get over on the airline. Clearly it's his parents fault, but he wants someone else to pay for it. Sorry pal, it's not gonna happen.Originally posted by: skyking
