Did Trump jump the shark?

  • Yeah he will start losing now at the polls

  • Nothing can stop him, he will keep winning and get nominated.

Probably one of the most logical posts in the thread. Yes I'll admit that money talks. While Trump isn't going to give them a superpac tit to suck on, Trump is simply the people's choice so like you said - they have to do what their constituents say or the gravy train is over. Since Trump *currently* represents over 40% of Republican voters (where most will never change their minds btw) he has the best chance of absorbing other candidates' voters in the general. It's either that or Hillary. And let's face it, Trump voters aren't going to vote for anyone else at this point, they are the most loyal - they will vote Trump 3rd party if he runs.

If DT becomes the chosen one, superpacs can fuck off. They have to play by his rules and DT's foes have to play ball with him because he will be the only hope to vanquish hillary. At that point it's a coin flip and anything can happen. In the end, it's easier for the GOP to just ride it out with DT than to steal it from him and try to bribe him into endorsing whoever stole it from him. That is the only way to solidify the party. Trying to get him to accept a bribe to endorse and not throw the election will be a tougher task than just giving him the Nom. He will have pulled off a modern day political hijacking.

I shouldn't have bothered.

The Duck's success (so far) has little to do with the problems unleashed by Super PACs and dark money because he gets free media coverage around the clock. He does not prove or disprove anything about money in politics. This is a compliment, btw, because he has proved that he is adept at low-level politics (e.g. personal attacks) and controlling news cycles. But those base emotions tend not to last. People will get bored of his circus, if they have not already. If he wants to keep getting the attention he will have to change tactics.

I wish Jon Hunstman ran again. Although deep down I know conservatives would never take him over the likes of clowns like Cruz or Trump.

This election may be the time when Repub voters get to see what fools they've been- for decades.

Here's a bit of the Cruz platform-

Well if you want to compete with China, getting rid of all Environmental laws, Child labor laws and Osha is a start.

We don't have to compete with China. We just have to claim a greater part of the revenues our capitalists create when choosing Chinese labor over American labor.

Within constitutional bounds, the govt of the people has the right to regulate & tax both corporations & personal income. They have no right to use foreign labor other than what we give them.

Looks like he is imploding and finally jumped the shark. He is stuck in the mud and unable to move on to presidential level. Still playing JV when its time to step it up.

Looks like it will be a big landslide for Hillary.

He can still decline the nom and save some face.

Has it been that bad? I haven't been paying attention the last ~2 weeks.

That would be hilarious to see, though.

#AskTheGays for one thing. But that wasn't changing anyone's mind. But his talking to the NRA about infringing on gun rights... that's making waves among all but his ardent zealots.

This is like Dave's "$5 gasoline is right around the corner" thread at this point when he's clinched the GOP nomination.

Three months after OP made the prediction and now Trump is imploding, eh? I don't like the guy myself but this is what that prediction looks like then and today:
