Since you wouldn't be squatting, it shouldn't be an issue from that direction.

The only legal question that I can think of is whether you would be using a MS trademark to generate business. But it doesnt sound like it since nobody would really guess that URL randomly.

I dont see why there would be a problem, but with these things you can never be too sure.

Any legal professionals on the board?

I've posted on this before.... basically, the legal waters around this subject are extremely murky right now, with conflicting rulings on similar cases all over the place.

Bottom line is, if you do it in good faith and not as a squatter, the worst that can happen is that MS forces you to give up the domain -- if you choose not to fight them.

Go for it.

<< expect trouble only if you succeed. >>

and MS will probably force you to give up the name.. see if you can sell the domain to them for a large sum of money.. :D

No, that would be the exact wrong thing to do, and that could land you in some very hot legal water.....

But doesn't your site help MS in a way? SO I don't think they would mind. After all, there are WinXP sites with information about cracks and stuff, and they're not getting sued.

why would it be a problem if MS agrees to buy..? But then like SSP said, those WinXP and other tips/cracks site are still surviving so it's probably not an issue.
