All of these were legitimate, credible arguments right up until the point the Capitol was stormed using this exact same premise of "illegal votes." Which just, coincidentally, happen to be any votes that didn't vote your way.

Edit: and of course, the feds have a Constitutional obligation to ensure the fairness and security of any election for federal office.

Please. Five states, including Utah, vote by mail & drop boxes. Incidents of fraud are vanishingly small & I defy anybody to produce actual evidence to the contrary. The reason they oppose vote by mail is because that takes away their ability to manipulate the vote through external influences. These people have no solutions to any problems except to double-down on what has never worked before.

We can debate all day about voter ID, what constitutes as a valid ID to vote, and how best to make it easy for everybody to get one.

irrc, the fairness and security of elections isn't in the constitution. Congress had to pass laws saying that they want fair federal election.
