i goto vegas about 3-4 times a year... love that place...just to get away... and enjoy myself... I am an east coast guy as well... you can find flights for a good price if you just search... i just landed a RT N/S Flight from BWI-LAS for $198 bucks....

Also get a players card, and gamble a little and you will get free hotel rooms from different folks.....

Eating in vegas isnt cheap so be prepared...

where did you get a flight from bwi for under $200? that is dirt cheap. i thought the $320 i got it for my trip in july was cheap. paid over $400 2 years ago.

I use priceline for airlines just because it's easier... :hmm:
I go once a year for the BCA Nationals. It's always busy that week, so I assume lots of things are going on. It's my only sure annual 100% vacation, so I try not to sweat the details.

Will you be attending this year? They moved the dates to July. If they hadn't, we'd be there right now.

MGM was nice but I would say it is about middle of the road when compared to others. MGM did not have any flat screen TVs where I stayed and this was 2 years ago. Also did not read about any bed bugs there so I went this them.

MGM Skyloft is probably one of the nicest rooms in all of vegas...

I'm not entirely convinced the cabs are any safer. One time my friend asked the driver if he could smoke his joint in the cab. The cabbie said hell yeah! and lit his own and then started driving...

So? For someone who gets stone daily, there is no impairment. Nothing like alcohol whatsoever.

In all likelihood, though I have yet to sign up. I've been looking forward to getting out of the garbage dump they call The Riviera for 3 years.

You playing teams, singles, doubles, everything? I Had no idea anyone here even knew how to hold a cue...

Funny... As you can see from my post count, I don't post often. However, I have participated in a cue thread or two on here.

I've played in singles, scotch, and team almost every year since 2008 I think. Since I had a kid recently, I'll only be able to get away for a few days this year. So the team event it is... How about you?

The Riv is such a dump but the only saving grace was being able to book the 2br suites with the balconies that overlooked the pool. There was some value there and the hallways of that tower didn't smell like vomit.

Come in the middle of the week when there is no one here. $40 rooms, two for one buffets and $70 shows. Nothing wrong with staying off strip also. The rooms at the Boyd and Stations properties are just as good as the discounted rooms at Caesars and MGM properties.

From one who lived in Vegas for 10 years; this is the proper advice.

Also, travel costs during mid-week are less.

sun night - thurs nights are the cheapest.

You can take a taxi or the buses to get to the strip and see that life while saving a couple hundred by staying 2 blocks off the strip.

IMO the one thing not to miss is a series of Cirque DulSoleil Shows - anything but 'Zumanity'. See O, Ka, Beatles, Mystere, or at least a couple.

There are dicount tickets at a place everyone there knows if you ask.

Affordale strip hotel: Excalibur.

It's not on the strip but a reaosonably affordable big place with lots of amenities a bus ride to get to is "South Point".

I can get a package deal with half off tickets to Mystere. Stay At Treasure Island with 2 rounds trip tickets (from Connecticut).

I can get the same deal actually by booking separately (might even be cheaper). Then I get a free dinner buffet at Treasure Island on top of all this. I think there were a few other perks that I didn't care much for.

A co-worker said he saw Mystere and liked it. Just want more verification that it is a good show. Any advice on where to get seats? Front row, middle of theater, balcony, etc.

TI would not be a bad place to stay. All the rooms have been renovated in the last four years. Mystere is a good show. The TI buffet is a bit lacking but the burgers and ribs at Gilleys are pretty good.

If I remember correctly Ka and O are the 'two top', but mystere is still great, not far behind.

And they're all different, hopefully you can get to another also; mystere will confirm for you if you want to.

I prefer the middle for Cirque; up front you miss stuff and look up a lot, too far can't see as well. Just avoid obstructions.

excalibur is a dump, stay somewhere else imo. maybe they have good upgraded rooms there, but the one i stayed in was junk (their normal room)

Ya, I remember mine being nicer than that, might have been upgraded; it's not especially nice but I found the really cheap price/adequate room fine.

What was most annoying to me was just the noisy families and crowded, but when you're just walking from the room out of the hotel, who cares.

It's well located on the strip, especially for the price. But if you want anything nicer, get better. He did say 'value trip'.

No team this year, so perhaps mixed scotch if my gal form Cinci decides to go, singles 8 & 9.

I never bothered to actually stay at the Riv. It's a funny place. I've been to and thoroughly enjoyed the seediest urine-drenched public establishments all over the country, but something about holding a national event at the Vegas equivalent of the Idle-a-While bar never sat well with me. The place kind of always made me feel like I walked into the movie Big Trouble in Little China. Weirder still with CSI bringing in all those spotless Diamond tables... the sow's silk purse!

Cue threads?

I got a flight for $27 one way and it came out to $58 with a carry on bag and after taxes. (Fresno to Vegas, flying allegiant air) We stayed at Excalibur for $105.09 for three nights. (used hotel.com) The hotel was nice despite the cheap price, the beds were comfortable and you only stay in the room for sleep or whatever, we were out and about most of the time lol.

I looked up a lot of Vegas hotels and they charge resort fees fro $20-$25. I found that the only 3 star and above that does not charge resort fees is Golden Nugget and they are 4 star. Has anyone ever stayed at that hotel?

The new Rush tower at Golden Nugget is really nice.

MGM properties charge resort fees.

Caesar's properties don't.

I was annoyed by the resort fee until I stayed at Caesar's. It's a bit of a pain if you want to hop online in the hotel room or use the gym. Then your single day fee makes you miss the resort fee.

The cheapest is the Carson Tower $48 so I was looking at that one.

Actually Caesar reversed their policy and charges resort fees. I looked into Rio and Harrah's which are owned by Caesar.

Yea there were a couple of cue buying inquiries in years past.

The Riv def is a funny place. We would always get comped rooms elsewhere during the trip as well to have our getaway options. So basically, we'd pay for the suite at the Riv but stay free elsewhere. lol

CO-worker paid for ticket to Vegas for him and his wife but for hotel he got 2 nights at a time share for sitting in a 3 hr presentation. Not sure how close he was to the strip.
