Doing Vegas on the cheap? (flight, hotel, etc)

Not going to read the whole thread but there's one uber important lesson that you can learn from my mistake:

1. NEVER, EVER, and I mean EVER stay at a hotel that is not on the strip. Just pay the extra money to stay in a decent hotel where you want to be. Not only is it cheaper in the long run but it's more fun. I can't stress this enough. I've been to vegas maybe 10 times and that was the dumbest thing I ever did to save money while in college. Taxi fares alone made it more expensive and I wasted tons of time waiting for taxis or driving to the strip despite being "right around the corner".

going to vegas on a tight budget in general is a bad idea. would be much more fun to go for less days so you have more money, or wait to go later after you could save more money.

I just booked a room at Harrah's for $30/night for 4 nights. With those pesky resort fees, it's almost as much as the Golden Nugget. Harrah's is a 3 star hotel but the Golden Nugget is 4. However I will be in the middle of the strip instead of far away from it if I were to stay at the Golden Nugget.

Does anyone have recommendations for places to dine where the prices aren't too outrageously expensive? Doesn't a lot of celebrity chefs have restaurants in Vegas?

Do not for get the secret pizza at the Cosmo. That's tied with Earl of Sandwich for me in terms of drunk food. Just gotta know how to do it. When I left XS in Jan, I gave a call to secret pizza, got in line for a cab, drove over to cosmo. I walked up to the place and got my order within 5 minutes. Beats waiting 40 minutes in line 😉

Vegas - Sunday Night 2-blocks off the strip behind Paris/Bally's on Flamingo & Koval Ln.

Go to Ellis Island brewery, BBQ & Pizza - Metro Pizza inside Ellis Island does buy 1 large pizza get 1 large free. Get the BBQ Chicken pizza. $30 for two massive pizzas or under $20 for pepperoni.

The beer they brew is pretty damn tasty too,

Thursday is Buy 1 Slice Get 1 Free

Mon Ami Gabi @ Paris

There are no bad shows in vegas.

That said, I heard that Zumanity is just another cirque show. The boobies get forgotten after a while because they're doing such amazing stuff.
My wife didn't particularly like Ka.
My group wasn't super impressed with Jabawockeez. Their timing and positioning wasn't super crisp. It didn't feel like they stepped it up to make it a vegas show.
Tournament of Kings and Terry Fator stand out as shows I woudln't watch. (They always give out free Terry Fator tickets)

conclusion: watch what seems interesting to you.

Love was fantastic. If you're not into Beatles music, then I could see you picking a different cirque show. But if you like the Beatles, then see it...no questions asked.

I would pick a cirque show over anything else on this list.
