I like other people's dogs. A good friend (with a nice big yard) has this beautiful Lab. He's this big, awesome critter. Never makes much noise, never makes a mess, actually likes meeting strangers and getting acquainted...simply the most laidback and relaxed dog that I've ever seen (he's almost like a cat). Probably takes after his master (lazy, easy going guy eerily reminiscent of 'The Dude').

He enjoys spending time on his own but is ever willing to snuggle up next to you and fall asleep with his head in your lap. I like that temperament. He seems to like me an awful lot although I only hang out at his place once a month.

I'd like to have both, actually.

other people's dogs can be fun. To own one is too much work. I will have a child before I have a dog.

Dogs are fun sometimes, but cats are much less of a pain in the ass to live with full time.

Imagine this situation. You're out with friends having dinner. You finish and someone says "hey, let's go do something else"... get drinks, watch a movie, whatever. The dog owner then says "I can't I left my dog inside and he needs to get out for a walk." Meanwhile, the cat owner is out partying, or whatever.

A dog is great fun for a weekend in the park playing frisbee, but the rest of the time it's not worth it. Somebody needs to start a dog rental business.

From having a cat in my house to having a dog, I must agree. Dogs are a ton of work, and they always like to mess your stuff up, dig through trashcans, and piss and shit all over the place. Not to mention they get all greasy and smelly after 2-3 days after the shower, so you don't even really want to pet it.
Yes, and they always whine and make when you're eating.

Cat's on the other hand, are almost maintence free. They keep themselves cleaner than most people do. And they're a lot nice to pet and cuddle with :)

But then again, you can't really play with a cat in which you can with a dog.

I persoally prefer hugging my cat to sleep over throwing a friggen bone around while watching the dog frantically running around like a like an inane fool.
Yes, dogs are stinky nasty and eat their own crap and vomit. They can be fun, but it is much better when someone else owns them.

Dog are as high maintenance as women. You have to clean up its poop, take it for walks, play with it all the time, give it all sorts attention otherwise it feels neglected.

You can leave a cat alone for a few days and it'll clean itself up, relieve itself where it needs to, and it'll still be happy.

In 3rd world countries cats are useful in hunting down mice, dogs are just all around dirty worthless creatures that have a tendency to get violent. Pit bulls anyone?

And dogs save peoples lives, perform in rescue, therapy, law/drug enforcement, assist the disabled, work, etc.

What about cats?
lots of documented cases of those.

In fact, a burglar was viciously attacked by a cat and driven out of the home.

And who can forget that brave mother cat that risked her life to save her kittens from a fire in a old building.

So there are rescue(water, avalanche, cadaver, etc) cats? Cats that assist the blind and disabled? Work in law/drug enforcement?

man, it is a pet, not a gadget or employee. who cares about usefulness? I dont have pets for heir usefulness factor, the same way I dont have friends for their usefulness factor.

Dogs can be trained, cats not so much. The topic is about dogs and cats. Not necessarily pets. If you're lazy and don't won't responsibility, a cat is great. Of course, cats walk in their own shit and piss every time they go use the litter box. Then walk all over your house. Nice!

Whining like this:
If you're lazy and don't won't responsibility, a cat is great.

I mean, seriously, what nether region of your ass did you pull that one out of? That was probably the most asinine thing I've read in this thread, yet.

Do you know what the definition of whine is?

You obviously have selectively read the posts in this thread. Pretty funny how you've seem to skip all of the posts by folks talking about how much less work, less responsibility and maintenance it is owning a cat.

Now, quite your whining little boy. You sound like you have a sensitive pussy.

There's nothing lazy about it, that's the issue. How exactly is it bad to have a pet/companion that knows how to take better care of itself? They still need attention, work, and training. It just sounds like you have some kind of irrational problem with cat people, and you're trying desperately to create an issue out of their preference when it's you with the emotional issue. Dog owners are a FAR cry from being "more responsible" than cat owners. Now, whine moar plzkthxbai.

LMAO. I have no irrational problem with cat people. If you've read the posts in this thread, you'd realize that dog and cat people have come up with reasons for their preferences. If you're too sensitive by remarks made by dog people but won't whine about the cat people then I can't help you.

My recommendation would be to go home and hug your cat. The world is a scary place and not everyone is going to agree with you.

Sorry to break it to you but you're the only person whining in this thread. And the most pathetic thing it's a whine about supposed whines. That's sad but if you want to continue to cry, feel free.

Okay, you're still clueless, so I'll throw you a bone.

I'm trying to point out that people who own cats are not LAZY. This isn't whining, this is me pointing out how much of an ass you're being, for your own good.

The way you've presented your "position" says you're one of two things;
1) An ass who retardedly thinks owning a cat means that you're lazy, and/or irresponsible.
~or~
2) Ignorant as to what the word "lazy" means.

Seeing as it's pretty difficult to speak English (somewhat) well while not knowing how to use a simple word like "lazy", I'm going to go with the former explanation.

They both suck. Cats are a little better though. Never understood how people could be so needy that a friggen animal enhances their life. Nasty how people keep them in the house. That is so flippen gross. Either way though it's lame to be in some stupid competition between them. It gets old hearing this same dumb battle.

those with cats so standoffish and skittish usually have not spent the time to socialize with them. Too many think you just get a cat and throw it outside at night.

It gave me a chuckle even though I have seen it before. And for the record we like dogs, cats, turtles, birds, and even guinea pigs and have some of each sharing our abode. :)
