Dog Dilemma

If OP wants to get laid again, he'll get the dog.

Kind of douchey though seeing as he wanted 0 pets, yet still ended up with 4, lol.

Update us with pics once you pick the dog up.

Kids are 2, 6 and 8.

Weve had a couple dogs in the past. One died years ago and the other passed last year. Ive been enjoying not having a dog. No shit to scoop, can shove the kids outside without worring about the stray lawn pickle.

My wifes worked at a vet clinic for the past 12+ years, hence the 4 cats and previous dogs.

I agree. Our dog died 3 years ago and I really don't want another one. We have 3 cats (all rescues) and 5 fish so that is enough pets.

The lawn in our back yard looks decent now and it's nice not having to pick up landmines before I mow or if I miss one and my foot finds it when I am mowing. The smell of dog shit on a warm day... yeah, I don't miss that either.

The walk isn't just about using the bathroom. It's about bonding time, exercise, learning how to behave in the outside world and around strangers/other dogs. Kind of difficult to teach it these things at home unless you always have new people and pets coming over to your house. I don't want to hear any BS about the dog exercising itself, because it won't. I will accept that the OP might get a breed that doesn't need much exercise though.

the dog would still get a walk everyday. but if the dog has to go to the bathroom after or before a walk they can just let it outside. they do not have to walk a dog every time it has to go crap

Having just gotten a puppy, I'll attest to this. You can't just "get and forget"... it requires CONSTANT attention, care, and training. It is indeed very stressful for me, and my only other commitment is to my girlfriend.

the kids could have a great learning experience since they will likely have to take care of dogs in the future. also dogs have different personalities than cats so both of them bring different benefits to owners and everyone. one cat is already old so they can get a dog and then nothing more for a while
