After a 6 hour long exam, I was instructed to write out some particular statement by hand stating that I didn't cheat in any way. It was supposed to be in cursive. I needed to practice on scrap paper to write it. That was the first time in 20 years that I wrote in cursive. I pretty much only type now - my typing speed is at least triple my best speed writing in the past.

this happened to me recently. Everyone, myself included, thought that was one of the hardest parts of the whole thing was trying to write that damn sentence in cursive. I can do it but it takes a hellva lot more concentration than it use to for me back in grade school.

My handwriting isn't awful, but it's not exactly pretty. I generally take my notes by hand in class so I write enough. However I just had to take an essay test last week that sent my hand through hell! My middle finger was especially killing me as I brace my pencil against it, which hurts after awhile.

My writing never was very good, but it's still more legible than most the people I know, so... good enough.

Mine isn't that bad, but I can't stand to write for more then a paragraph. More so if it is very redundant writing.

I also can't write with pencils, they are just too slow. I have to use a very inky ball point pen.

I used to be really into calligraphy. "Santa" left a note this year- my hand hurt for like to hours after writing about 20 words. it sucked, but luckily I already had the bike assembled.

Yup this is my case too. If I have to write any significant amount by hand I end up with cramps. The few things I do write by hand I pretty much stick to block caps.

Yeah. I can barely remember how to write in cursive anymore. However, since I switched to a fountain pen, I can do calligraphy pretty well (print, of course).

I too once had a pretty good cursive, I actually received complements. Now it's pure crap thanks to the keyboard.

i dont even sign in script... i havent written cursive in so long i cant even remember how to make most of the letters. i do hand write invoices on a weekly basis, as well as written logs, so i do get tons of practice writing. its legible, not very sloppy and looks fairly decent most of the time, despite being printed.

To the extent that we have access to computers, yes (since less time was spent really getting good handwriting). However, my notetaking handwriting has been unchanged since junior high before I had a computer over 10 years ago. I find that my handwriting is dependent heavily on the writing utensil used. Using a very fine pen (0.5mm or less) that isn't ball-point, I can get pretty neat handwriting in all caps. Writing normal print is meh, combined cursive and print is meh, I rarely write in proper cursive.

i have pretty bad handwriting, so anything is an improvement, especially typing. however, my printing is worse than my handwriting, so i pretty much have to type everything out.

My writing was always bad, and it has not improved. I write so slowly compared to my typing that I have to think about each letter to avoid already writing a letter of another word (where I would have been when typing).

Na mine sucks either way. But its better than how I use to talk . Every other word 4 letter. I never done that in writing to any degree. But much has changed. So I talk pretty good now. But my Grammer still sucks. I think its part of my rebellious youth.

Being left handed my writing was always awkward, but it has in recent years deteriorated to the point that I just print everything in all caps for legibility.
So to improve I have ordered this and will set time aside each night too work on it. I have a dear love for all things written, so I am hoping to start up a journal and use calligraphy. As well as write actually letters to family members.
But this is not unusual for me, I pick from one to three skills a year that I feel that I'm deficient in and make it my hobby to master them.

In 4th grade they gave out awards to each of us and I won best penmanship. That's cause before then I went to a Catholic school that taught penmanship whereas the public school at 4th grade we just moved to did not so everybody was a step below in that department. Anyway, I think it's gone to shit in comparison since the PC though... for sure.

I think public schools have replaced the classes on "penmanship" with "proper use of emoticons" class.
