Does your handwriting suffer because you type everything on a keyboard?

My handwriting is so beautiful it is considered an art form in 12 countries. My handwritten, published works are national treasures in 9 of those.

25 years ago in college I took notes by hand in cursive that was very neat and legible. I could right so fast I could basically get just about everything that was said in class if I wanted. Today I cannot even read my own writing and I cannot even seem to remember how to write half the time.

My handwriting has actually improved over the years, but my endurance has gone down. Since I am used to the keyboard that keeps up (mostly) with the speed of my thoughts, I've acquired the bad habit of sometimes starting a new word before finishing the word I'm on when I'm writing.

My handwriting was pretty good in elementary school, but now it sucks & borders on illegible (even to me) unless I purposely try to write nicely, then it is decent. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with my using of the computer more, or its more that I'm lazy and that I find it faster to write the first letter of the word, some scribbles, and then the last letter .

Cursive is pointless and outdated. No one can read my cursive and I usually cannot read theirs. My print is very neat however.

I don't know...but i passed the bar doing it handwritten...I think I would've done alright on a laptop/desktop computer, but only old typewriters were allowed...so I hand wrote...and passed...so it must have stayed good enough to read, and that's writing for 8 hours a day for two days!

My writing sucks. My cursive looks good, but I never write like that so it's fucking slow (I can't remember how to write all the letters).

Although, in a way I prefer to write things like stories on paper. I just think better in a literary way with a pencil/pen in my hand.

this thread reminds me of the Simpsons where they suspect Bart was writing his own sick notes because they were so horribly sloppy. So they bring in Homer and when he write something find out it was actually his all along.

That's my writing lol.

You can take it as a compliment. I sometimes get this too either in print or cursive with some of the girls.
But it seems pretty ordinary if borderline ugly to me. Maybe they see something I don't?

Handwriting is great. But weightlifting actually suffered a bit because I used a small keyboard that forced my wrist to bend in a way that ended up hurting it.

my typing suffers because i switch keyboards so often that i can never get used to one.

I haven't written anything in cursive in over 20 years, so I'm assuming that I've probably forgotten how to write more than a few of the letters. On the other hand, it appears to be a mostly useless skill at this point. I'm better at printing in all caps, but even then I don't do a whole lot of it.

anything beyond my own signature looks like crap (not that it's even that pretty to begin with) and i even forget how to write certain letters in cursive.

My handwriting is beyond terrible, only teachers who have had to deal with years of terrible hand writing and myself can read it.
