When I lived at home the first PC the household got was mine. I let other people use it but if I had to use it the other person got booted off. So I never had an argument over the computer and there came a point in time when my parents finally got their own PC and that became the family computer. It's still going along quite well after 6 years though and it's still working fine. They have upgraded the RAM, video card (donated from one of my old builds), monitor, CD-RW (didn't have one originally), hard drive and operating system. But at its core it's still a PIII 500 but since they primarily use it for papers, internet surfing, e-mail, etc. it does the job just fine.
