If you guys do argue over the computer, did you resolve it by building a computer for your child or brother or sister?

I don't live at home anymore, but everyone had their own PC.

I usually had one or two, my sister has one, my dad has four or five around, mom has one.

I used to fight for the computer with my sister in high school so I bought my own and she got the "family computer"

I don't have children, and my brother still lives with my parents. He doesn't use the computer anyway. But, here in my apartment there are 4 computers for three people. My parents each have two computers (I think my dad actually has three), so my brother could use one of those if he wanted to.

2 children. theyre allowed an hour a day each, after their homeowork on weekdays. the rest of the time theyre reading or playing outside. same for video games. its always been the rule, so theyre used to it and conflicts are rare.

I built a computer for my parents and sister. We also have 2 laptops. One old P2 266, and a newer 1.3Ghz celeron that we share between the family.

used to share it with the sisters, which could lead to arguments, then I bought my own ( i wanted to play games, the family computer was worthless) and that ended it.

My sister is 6 years older than me, so when she was in 12th grade, I was in 6th grade ... we had only one family computer at the time, and I'd only use it for an hour a day every so often ...

I got my own laptop in 8th grade, and then built my own computer in 10th grade

No kids but my wife has a desktop that I built for her and a laptop I bought for her. She knows that my computer is off limits.

When I lived at home the first PC the household got was mine. I let other people use it but if I had to use it the other person got booted off. So I never had an argument over the computer and there came a point in time when my parents finally got their own PC and that became the family computer. It's still going along quite well after 6 years though and it's still working fine. They have upgraded the RAM, video card (donated from one of my old builds), monitor, CD-RW (didn't have one originally), hard drive and operating system. But at its core it's still a PIII 500 but since they primarily use it for papers, internet surfing, e-mail, etc. it does the job just fine.

I was fortunate in this area, in a family of 6 we usually had about 6-7 working systems in the house, all hooked up to the internet. Probably put a strain on the family relations though

I'm studying for my MCDST and then for my MCSA. It would be awesome to have hands on experience with the server software. Ross, I will follow your site a little more better. I seem to have missed out on a spectacular deal.

every family member has atleast one computer. its been a while since computers were rare enough to fight over.
