Does your Blockbuster still offer no late fees?

I don't remember the last time i was in a blockbuster that still had the No Late Fees thing going...probably two years or so. I ask because i was trying to hunt down a free 1 month GamePass trial and found a thread on cheapassgamer about abusing the no late fee policy for game rentals. That got me thinking...i thought BBV had totally backed out of their No Late Fees deal, but apparently some are still running it...

both the BBV's i frequent in raleigh are $1.99/day late fee, no questions asked.

Mine has has a one week grace period after your rental where you don't get charged. If you keep your game/movie after that grace period is up, then you get charged the full price of the game/movie. If you return it within 30 days of the grace period you get a $1.50 restocking fee placed on your account.

Netflix doesn't do games. For $15 a month I get 4 out at a time, plus unlimted in store exchanges, plus 2 coupons good for games.

Netflix can't beat that. Plus there's just some nights that the wife and I don't know what to watch so we can drop off one of the mailed ones for an instore exchange once we settle on something. Again, netflix can't do that...and on demand isn't anywhere close.

The ability to exchange at a local store for the "I want to see X movie tonight" situations definitely tips the scales in favor of BlockBuster.

There's still lots of people like to get out of the house and browse through movies, instead of mindlessly clicking through several pages on a website. Plus, there's lots of people who aren't into the whole online way of doing things.

I usually just go to Movie Gallery if I want to rent a movie at a store. Its a lot closer to my house, and cheaper than Blockbuster.

netflix sucks, my local store (not a chain) has an unlimited rental plan with 3 out at a time, plus games, plus pr0n. Netflix you don't get games, there's no pr0n and you have to wait. I don't see how anyone likes it, even with next day turn around it's still slow.

I haven't had to wait for a movie to come in the mail, I sure must be missing out on sending a movie back which takes a day and waiting another day to get another movie. That's fricking bad ass. Hell, by the time I got the next movie I probably wouldn't even be in the mood to watch it.

B&M > movies by mail.

I've never been so desperate for a movie fix that I *had* to have a new movie that same day.

the wide selection at netflix trumps all for me... I watch a lot of movies that are off the beaten path and I think there's only ever been one or two that netflix didn't have.

when I'm desperate for just "something" to watch, netflix instant and hulu satisfy that need pretty well. between the two, there's just about always something worth watching.

Definitely not. How would they make any money from the fake ones they add on randomly to people's accounts.

I tried Netflix a couple years back, but it really isn't worth it. You have to be a regular movie watcher, which I'm not. That's why I like having the option of Blockbuster so on that rare occasion, I can drive to the store and get a movie.

for what? not wanting to wait for the mail man to bring me a movie? I get movies exactly when I want, and the local store always has whatever I want in stock. I couldn't fathom renting a TV show off Netflix and having to space out watching it because you don't get a whole season at once. Netflix is for lazy ass people who don't mind waiting, I'm neither of those things :)

it's not about being desperate, but when I have the urge to watch a movie I'd like to be able to watch it right away. Not go online add it to my que and hope to get it in a few days. If I qued a movie on a Friday evening I wouldn't be able to watch it until Monday with Netflix, with the local store at worst I wait until they open in the morning *shrug* I don't like Blockbuster either but the one up the street is kick ass. I can also pick up snacks while I'm there and they give me movie posters from time to time.

Redbox + Netflix = Blockbuster is useless. And if you are renting games you need to get a life!

This

That.

On Demand sucks. Shitty picture and audio quality. Blu-ray FTW. :)

whats wrong with games?
I rarely rent games because I tend to buy ones I know I'm going to like and skip the renting part... but there is nothing wrong with renting games.

Eh?

There's a number of games out there that that have only 8-20 hours or so of gameplay. With games being $60 now, I'd much rather spend $5-$7 on a rental and turn it in when I'm done than spend $60 and have gamestop give me $10.

Now if you are actually taking a dig at people gaming needing to get a life...well...that's like your opinion man.

Wife and I dropped netflix after they finally came to TiVo lmao. Anyways we use redbox. 1 buck a movie. Makes netflix looks expensive. We go grocery shopping on Saturdays and pick up 1-2 movies on our way out.
