I'm confused...

What is the "foolproof" method for video card driver installation under Win XP???

I've read different things around the net...

It seems as though detonator destroyer is not to be used if you have Win XP? Perhaps I don't understand, but it seems that some say you can just NOT bother uninstalling the previous driver and that XP is "smart enough" to remove all the old driver residue as it installs the new driver? Or... Is this a case of just using the "Uninstall" feature in XP to remove the driver... Or is it a case of using the destoyer to get the best results (some have said that detonator destroyer will not work with XP or if it does, it was not meant for this operating system).

Can anyone provide a definitive answer before I screw up my machine with a new driver : )

I`ve been playing around with drivers on my XP OS and so far I just install them over the old ones & XP seems to handle this very well,no crashes or stability problems so this works for me.

IMO, the best way, regardless of OS, is going by what the manufacturer of your card recommends, when you download drivers, there usually is a readme file included or it's stated on the website on how to remove drivers, such as some you have to uninstall through add/remove progs., others you need to download a utility to run, others can just be upgraded on top of.

The drivers WinXP suggests I download are nvidia 15.xx series. They will always be WQHL certified. Me, give me my beta 22.80's and be gone with ya....;)
