Does using Facebook depress you?

I had my birthday the other day and got one happy b-day wish. An ex-coworker who I worked with in South Korea had his bday yesterday and got 70 happy bday wishes.

I post something on Facebook and 2 people respond. A friend I know posts a stupid selfie and gets 80 responses. She's not that hot. It's just that she knows a lot of people.

I guess viewing wedding pics, vacation photos and family pics on Facebook can actually cause depression. Especially when you have nothing going on in your life.

I have things going on in my life. 🙂

No, but it does give me social anxiety. I was forced to create one for a lab group and before I started blocking notification emails and after the first time I decided to see what a peer's wall contained, I felt really dirty as if I had just snuck into their bedroom. I don't necessarily have an issue with people being open with their lives like that, because I use forums like blogs about my pathetic life frequently, and I'll admit that I fap to a lot of (claimed) voyeuristic stuff, but when it comes to people I have to be in contact with in real life, it scares me just wondering if they know that I know what they did the other day.

No because I don't have one. I might make one explicitly so people can contact me through facebook if that is their addiction of choice. There won't be alot of content on there, maybe just ONE picture of me so people know its me.

Hamburgerboy - You'd be alot more popular if you posted... less... detail...😛

Facebook is spyware. Why would you voluntarily use spyware?

Happy birthday. As a gift to yourself, start modifying all your facebook data by making it incorrect. Defriend your friends, and friend people you don't know. After a couple months. deactivate the whole thing and walk away. Next year's birthday will be better.

No never , i dont use facebook only for chat , gossip things , i read informative pages , talk with techno geeks with lots of informative topics

if its depressing you stop using it ..

I barely use it anymore. Facebook has turned into an advertisement whore house combined with the rants of people's problems that I don't care about.

What?

I don't use it.................. Except when I do.

Hasn't there already been articles published that shows Facebook makes most folks unhappy? I stopped using it years ago.

Don't use it. I spend a lot of time chatting with friends, sharing funny/cool photos, coordinating hangouts and having fun. Somehow it's all perfectly doable without Facebook.

Perhaps you should try posting more about ladyboys on FB

Oh and Happy Birthday!

It's certainly depressing that a lot of people I know turn out to be a) stupid and b) compelled to share their stupidity on Facebook.

But yeah, I've mostly stopped using it.

it depresses me in the way that people have to always let everyone know what they are doing. it's to the point that people care more about telling people what they are doing than actually doing it. it's like everyone wants to take pictures when they get to new places just so they can post it on facebook and show everyone where they are. then instead of enjoying the place, they move on to the next place to take pics and show they are at that new place.

all that said, people doing that has no effect on me. i rarely go on facebook as it is anyways.

Ain't nobody got time for that.

Lost my email address I signed up with when I switched ISP's. Somehow I never got around that which turned out to be an awesome obstacle.

Not depress, but angers/annoys me.

I just... can't believe some people... they... can't be serious. I find myself repeatedly thinking 'do you realize you are a total loser' when browsing peoples' fb posts.

Posting pics of their crappy Kia with hashtags like #lovemycar #rollinondubs

Men taking selfies

Posting opinions nobody gives a crap about and then arguing in public with a single person for 30 comments

Anothing thing that bothers me is the way old people comment on things... like so short and random. It'll be a random picture someone posted and if there is a comment like 'Call me.' or 'Hi Frank.' I immediately know that is some 50 year old sadly using facebook.

Nope.

Check my feed everyday. If anyone gets annoying I remove them from my feed. I share anything interesting and comment in interesting discussions.

Not depressing. When my Bday comes, I get too many bday wishes and feel compelled to write back to everyone to thank them.

I belong to a number of groups and there's always events and activities going on during the week so it keeps me informed.

And if I have a question or if some else does, who better to asks then your friends.

Love how people hate on FB but use ATOT for the many of the same purposes.
