Does this look that bad to any one else?

After a few days it looked as though it was going to clear up, then lately it's coming back MUCH worse. I thought it was a deer fly bite, though after ~2 weeks, it's getting larger by the day. It started as a light pink, nearly went away.

Pic snapped yesterday.

It's even worse today, now it's a deep black/blue in the center and deep red surrounding with pink that is wrapping towards the front of my leg. I'd say it started out smaller than a marble, now it's about as big as a racquetball and spreading.

So, WWATOTD?

I'd go to the dr. Probably need some drugs.

I already did. Antibiotic and some topical cream, if it doesn't look better in ~2 days, go back right away. She's concerned it's a spider bite, I thought it was a deer fly.

Yeah, that is something I would take very seriously. If your doctor isn't sure what to do talk to someone else. That looks like a heck of an infection.

I think she's got it covered. If the red doesn't start to fade by tomorrow or gets worse at all after the topical cream, I'll hit the ER. (Her instructions)

Otherwise she said give it 2 days which would be Monday and i'll go back to her office so she can check it out again.

Sounds reasonable. That's about what I would do, except I'd extend the times a bit. Assuming it didn't get drastically worse, I'd never go to the doctor.

That looks similar to a viral (streptococcal) skin infection I had in 2010. The steroidal cream they gave me didn't do anything. It was pretty serious, and I would definitely make sure you are getting treated properly.

In my case, they ended up putting a catheter directly into a main artery b/c the serious medication would degrade smaller passages too fast, so I was running around with a tube sticking out of and strapped to my arm for two weeks. Thankfully, the medication worked.

TMI: Looks exactly like one of my bloody puss-filled "you know where" cysts after they finally surface and rupture (another today while at work). A doctor many years ago said it wasn't MRSA but I think I should be retested. My mother did have MRSA 10+ years ago and I did live with her and they have been a problem on and off ever since. It's NOT a hygiene problem. The problem is that it can take weeks to surface from when the nodule is first felt and you never expect it to surface when it does so scheduling to have one sampled is difficult.
