I was about to pass on this thread, until I saw your post. I seriously hope that ;) means you're joking.

I would be more worried about living in a smog infested city then getting cancer from smoking pot.

Yes, cigs have about 10 carcinogens, pot has 300 or so carcinogens... much much worse for you.
Riiiiiiiiiiight....

This is incorrect. While there are carciogenic substances in any burning organic substance, with cannabis there also seems to be a mechanism that prevents cancer from forming.

It has to do with the myriad of chemicals in cannabis. I'm not sure if they've found exactly what prevents it, but in the article I read, they were excited because the research could lead to new ways to fight cancer.

Most importantly, where are all the people dying of lung cancer who smoke cannabis?

Christ.

My ex-g/f's dad is on the board of directors at a hospital here in LA and one of the top pathologists in his field.

He has slides showing the amount of damage that pot smoking does to your lungs; it's much more than you'd think. It CAN cause cancer but the more common outcome is permanently charred lung tissue resulting in degraded efficiency. I don't think pot should be banned but anyone who thinks that it's completely harmless is just plain ignorant.

What is their definition of "pot smoking"? Once a week? Month? ...

LMAO! this thread cracks me up! :D

Once, at a party... we decided to make some special brownies.

But we didn't have any brownies.. only cornbread. So we decided to use that..

They were... green.

I don't really recommend it. IIRC, we drank all the milk trying to gag them down because we didn't want to waste it. :Q :p

Man, that was a strange dream...

;)

Haha! :)

Could've simmered it in some butter and then use the butter on toast or whatever. I gotta try that sometime (in a dream of course since it's illegal).

You can use applesauce in place of butter or oil when cooking. Gives a sweeter flavor, and it's lower in fat :p

Well, I was just giving general cooking tip there. My wife makes banana bread, corn bread, and cookies that way.

OK, OK.. I Must ask.. Does eating pot give you the same high but with less of the smoking related side effects? I've thought of making some nice low-carb pot brownies ;)

Not quite . . . that's why Marinol - the oral synthetic oil delta9 THC for cancer/aids/nausea - is generally liked less than smoking it.

It generally takes more than twice the pot to eat (than smoking) to get the approximate effect. It also takes much longer - an hour or so - and should be eaten on an empty stomach (other than fat or oil in the brownies). Too expensive for most people.

Also, eating produces a 'body high' compared with the more 'mental high'. ANd SEVERE munchies. ;)

eating it causes no harm whatsoever. the hight is different though. it takes a long time to kick in but the high lasts alot longer....i actually prefer the high from eating it....give it a go!

I should start another thread on legal/safe "highs."... Been so stressed out lately - could use a joint every now and then!

Kava Kava is relatively safe (in reasonable dosages), legal and very relaxing.

As to pot in brownies, 2 grams of hi quality would be the minimum per person.

Smoking causes some of the psychoactives to be destroyed from the flame, and thus when you cook with it you get different effects. Never tried it, but from the experiences I've read it's more of a relaxed body-high. It also lasts much longer, like 4 or more hours depending on how much you've eaten. Also like apoppin said you usually need more than is required for smoking.
