Nope, that was before any fate was laid out for us, when humans were as perfect as God and when sin did not exist. So we can blame those two a$$hats for all of our problems, diseases, and shortcomings.

Thanks a lot you two!

Well, free-will was a part of their perfect existence before that so they had the choice to do wrong and did so... which is extremely unfortunate for the rest of us. Of course that also garuntee's us our free will, which is, IMO, one of God's greatest gifts to us.

As for the day argument, I don't know either way as I have friends and pastors who believe both and argue both convincingly. The Bible mentions "leviathons" (sp?) that walked the earth with man yet we find fossils that date back millions of years (according to our current dating methods), so which is it? Thankfully it does not really matter what order God created things in or what time-span they lived as that is not the message of the Bible. Though that is one of the first things I plan to ask God about after I die.

Verse mentioning the leviathons (Job)? Edit: I mean where you think it could describe a dino.

Now where things get hairy in my eyes is when you read that mosis lived to be 936 years old. So that brings in to question how exactly time was measured.

Because of these time descrepencies it leaves a large portion of time open for pre-historic events and creatures.

No, people actually did live that long. You see the atmosphere was very different back then, and it blocked the sun's radiation much much better back then. After the meteor hit the earth and caused the great flood, it disrupted the atmosphere and that's why it rained so much. It even says after the flood that people didn't live as long, and that's exactly what happened.

You just made that up!

People! Realize that the bible, even if there is a god, and even if many of the events happened, nobody claims that the bible was written by god himself (not even the bible does!), it was written by people, people who had agendas, people who forgot things, people who made up stuff to fill in the gaps, transloators who had a poor grasp of the language they were translating. To take the bible literally is just...stupid. The bible is a book that was written by PEOPLE that claims to tell of the actions of GOD and those who work for god. Ugh.

Malak: No, I don't read Hebrew natively but I have studied it... The words used in those subject verses of ch. 1 (1-3) are "tohu" and "bohu". These are translated as creation and recreation. The "creation" took place billions of years ago. The recreation took place fairly recently... Biblical history can be traced back through the genealogical record back to Adam and Eve supporting the notion that "man" (as we know of him today) has been around for approximately 6000 years. As stated earlier, not much is said about the timeperiod between tohu and bohu; but dinosaurs would certainly fit in here.

I'm not sure of the relevance of your discussion of the word "day" in the context of tohu and bohu. The "days" references you refer to are part "bohu" and have nothing to do with the timeperiod that dinosaurs would most likely be roaming the earth (BEFORE bohu).

If you take the Bible literally, then dinosaurs could have existed before man. I forget what day it says man was created on, but saying "days" doesn't really correllate exactly to our 24 hour periods. Those could have been long periods of time. But that is if you take the Bible literally.

If you take the Bible metaphorically, then it's quite obvious that there is no problem

Days are days, they don't mean anything else. Genesis even describes exactly what a day is, so that arguement is thrown right out the window from the beginning.

That being said, there is a good chance dinosaurs and man co-existed.

AFAIK it says that to God, a day can be thousands of years, I don't remember exactly where it is.

Which has absolutely no bearing on creation whatsoever. What that verse is talking about is patience. God exists forever, so what may be a moment of our life is but a speck of existence to him. It doesn't mean a day lasts a thousand years, in fact it means a thousand years go by for him like a day goes by for us. Genesis describes exactly what a day is, which isn't a thousand years, it's one 24 hour period.

Where is Genesis does it give the angular velocity of the Earth? Maybe it was spinning REALLY slowly back then. In reality, the rate the earth is spinning IS changing.

What!? That makes no sense.
It is changing, but it's slowing down, not speeding up.
Still makes no sense according to the laws of physics.

Anyway, The Bible mensions a LOT of animals that exist. Just because the Bible doesn't mension them doesn't mean ... well, anything really.

Yes it does. It makes PERFECT SENSE. Ever hear of 'drag'? Conservation of enegy is not perfect, nor is space a perfect vacuum, especially within a star system.

Actually, yes, it does, considering both the size and prevalence of the dinosaurs.

Well if you're interested in changing the Bible to read "two of each animal on earth -except dinosaurs" then be my guest. However, the original text says otherwise. The ark was filled and closed before the flooding began and all the animals came to Noah so I doubt sea life was on the ark, but I fail to see why dinosaurs would be left out.

I'm not following you on this one.

Less world population = less inbreeding? How do you figure? lol

Food and drink being anything but pure is a result of our (recent..) industrial revolution. If you go back 150 years.. yeah.

Nobody lived to be 900 years old.

Something like.. they used moon cycles to determine age instead of "years". So if you count all the moon cycles, he was about 60something years old - A very old man for those times.

It makes perfect sense.

God created the world in 7 days, each day he created different things, those days could have been millions of years to us. I am a Christian don't flame me for that.

Definitely in question, since that could have been changed, but IIRC he predated the written torah, so it was passed down verbally from generation to generation for centuries before it became 'relatively' (which is to say semi-at best) fixed. But even if it was the case, Moses is not God, he was a man, prone to all the failures of every human, which I mentioned above.
