So I bought some last semester, and I'm wondering if it's expired or not.

Thoughts? :(

I'm hungry.

if it's got a layer of green on top, it's probably bad.

just take a whiff.

If the jelly was in the fridge, it seems to last quite a while. Peanut butter seems to be fairly resilent too, not stored in fridge.

It will probably get very sticky and smelly like cooking oil does when it breaks down.

I think 6mo's is probably ok for peanut butter. Jelly otoh, inthe fridge, I might just pass on that. If you were sloppy with your knives and mixed them back when, then the combined stuff sitting in the fridge or cabinet gets really gross. I wouldn't chance that... but you are a starving college student, so, I suspect you'll give it a go.

I have some of that combined peanut butter and jelly stuff. Goober I believe it's called. Nevertheless, I just ate a PBJ sandwich. Now, we wait and see what happens.

And yes, it IS peanut butter jelly time.

ive had some peanut butter get really liquid- the oils and the 'butter' seperated.
it wasnt 'bad' necessarily; just not the right consistancy.
that took a long time though.

The jar doesn't have an expiration date on it, nor does it say to refridgerate after opening.

well, I take that back. I do see a 07/04 on the label, perhaps that's the expiration date.

I should give Smuckers a call @ 1-888-550-9555

Alright, so I was extremely bored and decided to call Smuckers. They said on the front is a "pull date", and that's the date it should be pulled and thrown out regardless if it has been opened or not. My jar's pull date is 07/04, so I have a few months before I ditch it.

Anyone want a PBJ sandwich? I'll mail it to you.

expiration dates on a lot of stuff are totally bogus as long as your fridge is the right temp

Expiration dates generally reflect when products are no longer at a certain quality level, not when they truly expire.
