If you would send me a private message of your review that didn't get posted, I will look into it.

Same here. I have given several objective reviews. Most never made it and I can't believe for a second it is a coincidence. As another person replied, they can't sell the product if it gets hammered too hard.

I believe there are two factors used in posting reviews:

1. They will post just enough negative reviews to make it look real.

2. Like any other major supplier, they get breaks and incentives from various vendors to push a certain brand or model. The greater the incentive is to push a product, the tighter the filters will be on the reviews of that product.

Just my .02 worth.

In all honesty we used to screen reviews more stringently. Naturally there are concerns of backlash from manufacturers but we changed this policy last year. The order came directly from Newegg's CEO and we have since always posted both negative and positive reviews (as long as it meets the rules). We do not manipulate reviews or have any filters to advance any products. If you have any reviews that dont make it, send it to me in a private message and I will have it re-looked. It is a manual process so there can be human error on our part. I have seen instances where the review is very good but there is one sentance that violates the rules and we are forced to reject it.

If you ask me, negative reviews are healthy, it helps us to weed out the products that dont make the grade.

Good to hear it directly from "the man." I've seen plenty of negative reviews that I know would be screened if it were an active process.

I was reading a few of your replies after I sent my own and I have to commend you for stepping in the line of fire, so to speak. If you are indeed a VP then I know you have other projects to consider besides checking out a forum. Doing so puts you on the "front line with the troops" as I often say in my business, and I honestly don't think there is a better way to get a true feel for what works and what doesn't than getting out front once in a while. The true benchmarks can sometimes get skewed when the information being collected is done by direct reports. It's amazing how much can be seen standing on the front line.

To add to what I stated earlier.... over the past several weeks I will admit that I have seen more negative replies than before, which validates your comment regarding Newegg's change in the review process from past to present. I'm sure you don't want to see Newegg filled with negative reviews, but if you are using them as a business metric to chart Newegg's customer sat scores then by all means you would want to use a real number for your measuring stick. It's a gutsy move but a good one for any VP looking for the truth.

You are absolutely correct. I need to keep in touch with the front lines if i want the most accurate picture of things. I may not be able to do everything everyone suggests, but at least I can listen and understand. The forums are a great place especially since you guys are not shy about telling us what we messed up on =). It really does help me to disseminate information to my exec team and formulate the right battle plan to improve Newegg for our customers. Thanks for the support and feedback.

Not quite true.... They tend to leave some bad reviews on the cheapest products, so people spend more money on the good stuff :)

Criticism of Newegg.com's service or the service of our operations partners, (FedEx, UPS, Paypal, etc.)

That was taken from their review guidelines as not being allowed, interesting how they allow praise of Newegg's service but not critisicm, but I guess I don't blame them.
It's nice to hear from a Newegg rep though.

yes, newegg does reject reviews, they even sent a auto response e-mail to me, it seems they have filter for certain words, i think i used "WTF" in a review one time, i got e-mail back saying my review was rejected and how they screen reviews for quality.

I've gotten the same e-mail in the past for a postitive review that met all guidelines, and didn't seem to have any profanity whatsoever. I think I got Newegg to look over it again and they posted it up.

As for the actual reviews, I like how they added the Pros and Cons, I almost always added my own Pros and Cons to reviews before they had that.
