Does NE1 else think that DC totally fooked up the Dodge Viper's styling?

To me it looks better in person than in pictures, but its still not my favorite viper. The sides pipes won't burn your leg btw, side pipes are damn cool ;) :D

<< The new one looks refined >>

Exactly, thats teh problems. The germans I think are suggesting that we want refined. You don't buy a viper for a refined highway cruiser, you buy it for the insane level of power, you buy it so you can melt 1/4" off a tire in just seconds :D

<< but This, and this concept was what I was hoping they were going to do with the new Viper. Even though there are a lot of similarities in this concept and the real one, that first picture in the racy trim that IS NOT A CONVERTABLE, is what I wanted. >>

That's the concept car I was talking about in my last post. THAT car looks BADASS and the interior has plenty of aluminum detailing and surfaces.

THAT is the car they should have built, not this thing.

All I know is the V10 sounds like crap. I doubt they are changing the funky firing pattern so this one will probably sound like crap too.

Anything with that many cylinders should sing, not sound like a tractor.

The new viper has some Camaro SS characteristics to the front end, especially the hood.

The original Viper did have a pretty distinctive look to it and really stood out from the crowd. That new body style really looks bland by comparison. But then again I'm a big fan of the Porsche 928's curvy body styling and always thought the other models looked stupid :D

Eh, I could care less - it's a Viper, I'll never hate a Viper, it's blasphemy ;)

Oh and the GTS Concept you guys are talking about is based off the same body - except it's a hardtop. There's a couple more lines on the body and the front air dam comes further down (it's a GTS-R after all), but besides the little trim pieces - it's the same on the outside. The interior definitly was more badass - those air vents were friggin great!

I don't see why you guys are getting so much S2000 out of it, I see much more Camaro SS than S2000. Do I like it? Yes, but I wish they'd retained a little more of the venom that made the original Viper what it was. It's a little too refined, too passive if you ask me.

I'm anxious to see what the coupe will look like, the GTS is what hooked me on Vipers. I dunno if I'd ever seen pictures of an RT/10, but I still remember seeing my first GTS picture in a magazine & thinking "Holy fsck, what is that thing?" So I really don't care about the RT/10, the coupe is where it's at for me.

As for the interior, I liked what I saw in the concept car. Aluminum & carbon fiber would make it very nice.

I agree with a lot of what you said Viper - I think the GTS is a much different beast than the RT10, the drop top isn't too appealing to me either. I see a lot of the S2000 in this pic - I think you can agree with that somewhat. But I think Dodge is falling into the same catagory as the soon-to-be-killed F Bodies, the bland styling was one of their least popular attributes. I hope this body style doesn't stay around as long as the 1st generation's did...

yeah, first thing that hit my head was a sebring :( i personally hate it. Gimme my rt/10 and i'll be happy. or a twin turbo 800 Henessy :D

It doesn't have that 80k look anymore.

looks just like the old viper but with the "edge style design" philosophy applied to it to me

i just realized it looks like something from Batman: The Animated Series. way too long compared to the width, and the hood fins round out the picture. it sure doesn't say "muscle."

The biggest thing the Viper had over other super cars was it's sexy curves. They done fvcked up a great ride.

It definitely looks like the bastard child of an S2000 and a Camaro SS.

Right now, I really dislike the redesign of the new Viper.

the viper has always been either the ugliest gaudy car on the road or the most beautiful car you're likely to see on the way to work (thus eliminating ferrari's, lambo's, etc).

its love-it-or-hate-it, and I loved the second generation style. the first early 90's was goofy looking IMO, but the current style just reeks of beauty. (oxymoron?)

the new one is too toned-down from its "extreme" looks in the past.

I think it looks awesome and anyone who doesn't like the way it looks may be "fooked" in the head ;)
