It's harder to be shallow when times are tough, so I would say yes, but it depends on how bad the economy is. There will always be bad songs put out, no matter how bad it gets, though.

Based on this year I'm going to say no. It depends, however, on how long it takes the economy to affect music.

Looking at the various end of year top album lists so far, I would say there is no correlation.

He's almost got a valid point though. There are bands worth mentioning since then. Actually a lot of bands, but I feel like when it comes to a lot of the top 40 stuff now, it's mostly shit.
