Don't tell them it's an AP class on your application. If you take the test and do well, report the scores, if you don't then you know what to do (the key is to not release the scores until after you get them back in July). It'll cost an extra $10 or so, but if it's that important to you, it'll be worth it. You should have a fairly good idea how you're going to

History's a tough cookie. I took Euro and really thought I did well on the AP and ended with a 3, which is good for nothing most places. Pretty much all the schools I've looked at want 4's on AP and even my no-name 2-year state school won't be taking 3's after this semester.

Seriously, if you get anything less than a 3, you probably didn't know crap about your subject. It's MORE than worth the $70 per test. I got out of some serious credits by taking like 5 tests.

What subject are you talking about?

thats not true. i had teh hioghest grade in my AP US history class a 98 and got teh second lowest grade on teh Ap i got a 2. thoes tests dont illistrate anything about how moch you know. justy like teh SAT. they show how well you do at takeing standardized tests

and the other person who got a 2 had a 90 average. the person that got the hignest grade. a 4 had a 68 in the class. and was barley passing. the tests dont mean sh!t
When were grades ever an indication of how much you know? I have a "C" in AP American because I didn't take a test, and would bet that I can beat 90% of my class in a DBQ. Besides, the AP exams are hardly standardized, you have to know specific information. The SAT doesn't ask you to discuss the first and second Great Awakenings using documents provided, the SAT asks you questions where you have to think to get the answer.

Oh, but for the original poster, you can go with the comedy "cancel your score" option, if you're really that concerned about them seeing your score.

WHAT!!! you definitly WANT TO put down that you are taking AP classes (aka - a hard course load).

AP scores do not matter much. they can only help, not hurt.

Your school transcript shows whether or not you took AP classes. It will look odd if you don't mention AP classes in your application.

Take the AP tests that apply to your major, unless you just want a lot of credit. For example if you are bio major, you might not need an economics class credit. Your scores don't mean anything when applying, if you get 1's across the board, it won't hurt your chances.

I got a 3 on the AP history exam too but my school only gives credit for a 4 :( I also got a 1 on comp sci... but I was very dumb got a 4 in bio and 4 in calculus ab and didn't take the credit. Could've saved hundreds of dollars. arg

So basically if you own at a subject, take it- save money later. If you know you wont get a 3, don't waste your money if you have to pay for it. (unless u get a free exemption for taking it) :D

you don't have to report the scores for admission. I reported only a few of them (my highest ones) and I got into Ivy League and Ivy-caliber schools.

Since you don't send an official report until AFTER you matriculate, it's kind of moot. Don't fret. Take it anyway.
