Does having a 9-5 suck?

It can suck, with a commute the day is loooong. My commute is an hour and 15 minutes each way, so add that on to the 9 hours at work, and that's 11.5 hours devoted to work. I reall want to be self-employed. I know the hours are actually LONGER being self-employed, but at least I'm working for myself. I see the actual gains of my work instead of being some drone contributing to the company bottom line.

When I was in bookkeeping, I did 7-3, ate while I worked, wasn't that bad as I remember it.

Now as an apps eng. I start work at home around 7ish, walk to work (.72 miles away), have lunch around noon, walk home at 4pm. I love it.

getting a 9-5 sucks when your work life and personal life are completely separated. theres nothing more dull than to wake up, drag yourself to work, then come back 8 hours later and repeat the process. choose a career in which you can involve yourself personally and intellectually. the worst thing that can happen to you is to sit in a cubicle for the rest of your life while your brain slowly turns into mush.
