I haven't heard any of our so called "religious leaders" chime in on this one.
Seems whenever we have a hurricane or tornado in the US at least one of them says God is punishing America for anything from homosexuality to fluoridated water.

So, is God punishing the Icelanders? And for what?

It's not that big of deal; the earth is just making a mountain out of a molehill.

Does Dick Dawkins hate Iceland? I havent heard this "atheist leader" chime in how religion has caused the volcano to blow.

Icelanders are punishing themselves by living on a volcano.

Do people blame god when there's an earthquake in Cali?

For calling themselves Iceland but there isn't really that much ice. It has more green land than Greenland does.

It is like they had it all planned out to confuse people.

They're doing something over there that we can blame it on, no doubt. Rampant homosexuality, decline in church attendance, increase in punk rock popularity, etc. People are always doing enough shit that there's an easy culprit to point to as the source of divine retribution. It's just that no religious leader in America gives enough of a shit to try.

Nah, it's just a test, because he knows humans are strong enough to get through it.

Or else he's just inherently sadistic.

Yes, some people do. Sadly.
And then they thank god when people are rescued.

Act of God = major natural disaster, ie god caused it.
Then thank said god for saving people, despite severe casualties.
Now of course, if a human engaged in that sort of behavior, we'd consider it to be a psychological disorder.
