I haven't heard any of our so called "religious leaders" chime in on this one.
Seems whenever we have a hurricane or tornado in the US at least one of them says God is punishing America for anything from homosexuality to fluoridated water.

So, is God punishing the Icelanders? And for what?

They're doing something over there that we can blame it on, no doubt. Rampant homosexuality, decline in church attendance, increase in punk rock popularity, etc. People are always doing enough shit that there's an easy culprit to point to as the source of divine retribution. Act of God = major natural disaster, ie god caused it.
Then thank said god for saving people, despite severe casualties.
