Unfortunately we see Vader becoming a calm cool collected badass motherfcker by the time Ep4 rolls around. I don't ever remember hearing Vader say "Awwww, open the blast doors! Come on guys!"

The actors they got for Ep1 as a child and Ep2-3 as an adult should have been a calmer more intellectual Anakin. Introspective but with an evil look in their eyes. Vader was simply a no-nonsense badass but Lucas turned him into a crybaby.

So for creating an awkward teenager, Lucas did well. Unfortunately Anakin was not a normal teenager. He should have been a disciplined student who succumbed to the dark side for various reason. Instead Lucas made him a wreckless young punk.

It's his movie, he can do what he wants. But I was disappointed with where he took it.

Obi Wan was reckless too in his young age.

Imagine being a 'kid' with these kinds of powers.

Now with Anakin (and I think the irony is funny here), he is in love with Pad...they won't let them be together. At the same time, he suspects Obi Wan of doing this to keep her for himself.

He is majorly torn. Then we can't be sure if he was even fully human, he may have been born from the dark side...there are side stories on this.

He goes insane enough to want to kill Obi Wan and is consumed by the Dark Side pledging allegiance to it for revenge. Crying really doen't make or break your 'bad assness'.

It like the guys that look at a skinny martial artist and think "oh man I can snap him in half" with a Twinkie stuffed in their pie hole.

What's up with the part wher eYoda tells Obiwan that he has to train with Qui Gon and that he can commune from the dead. Never heard that one before and it's not in Ep IV so it is in some of the books or something?

Maybe he mixed in a red sock with his white laundry. I'd cry too.

Whining leads to discontent...
Discontent leads to anger...
Anger leads to hate...
Hate leads to the Dark Side...

Boo hoo hoo...

one of THE worst miscastings ever!

exactly!!!!!!

and i am sure this isn't the first itme this has been discussed here, or anywhere, for that matter. However i was talking to some ppl today who felt he did a GOOD job in playing the character and the girls thoguht he was hott..
wtf!? horrible actor, whiney as hell, just no talent, got to play one of the biggest iconic figures we know today!!! how the hel does that happen!!

You hit the nail on the head. The reason he was cast is because he is a teen hearth throb for girls and gays. Lucas casted him to increase the audience base. Last night, there were a lot more girls there(hot ones at that) than were at episode 1.

This is how Obi Wan learns to appear before Luke as an apparition and talk to him after his death.... like when he tells him to use the force on the Death Star attack, and appearing at the celebration at the end of Jedi.

jesus...

Exactly where does the OP get off complaining about a character's "whining" while he comes in here and spews more of the very same?

Cause as Vader he'd could have had Natalie Portman....completed his shrine with the spent condom.

Apparently, since I don't remember him crying and/or whining much in Episodes IV-VI...

d00d every line he spoke he looked like he was goign to break out in tears! yeah he was complaining about how everyone treats him like a student (which he was), but such horrible acting he couldn't even act mad he looked like a 12 year old who yelled at his dad for the first time and then starts trembling at the realization of what he just did

Actually he was doing a good job of showing a teenager with strong conflicting emotions and confusion. Seems a lot of people missed understanding that it was INTENTIONAL to the plot of Episode II. See EP III if you want to see how it all fits.

Well, after all this, I feel that Lucas has redeemed himself with Ep3. Ep1 was a complete stinker, no doubt. Ep2 was a bit better, mostly because there was some sweet battle action happening. I saw Ep3 this afternoon, and it really kicked ass. One of the best Star Wars flicks ever. It's right up there with Empire. Better than New Hope and Jedi, IMO.

Man i still disagree, I liked Ep1 because it was new, it was diferent, and darth maul just kicked ass, the fight scene at the end was AWESOME! Ep 2 was just annoying with anikins bad acting, the way the love/emotion scenes were handled, and bad fight scenes though Yodas fight scene kicked ASS!!!! it was only what 10 seconds long!!!!! I don't think anikins (or vaders) acting in ep 3 got ANY better!!!!!! some of you don't seem to understand I am not saying i don't understand what the character was possibly feeling or how he should not have been so calm and cool in every situation but he is such a bad actor he did not do a good job of this everytime he speaks even when he is happy (with padame) he looks like he is trembling and about to cry, and his acting is just over the top and horrible....
anyway i didn't like the fight scenes in ep3, they totally dumbed down count dooku's (however it is spelled) abilities, he was able to stand toe to toe with yoda but lost to anikin quickly? who was still not good enough to beat obi wan who was stil not as good as yoda. Then the 2 big fight scenes at the end i hated how it went back and forth.
Overall though i did enjoy the movie :)
i still hate george lucas with a passion

I'm going to see the movie this weekend - I can't wait!

Just a reminder to those questioning the "realism" of this Star Wars. This is coming from the same director who had E-woks throwing rocks at Storm Troopers as they fought their way to victory.

This is also the director who had Princess Leia saying (very unconvincingly) "Hold me" to Hans Solo after she finds out Luke is her brother.

So I expect this episode to be just as cheesey, but I'm hoping it'll be entertaining nonetheless. I guess my point is, the first three episodes had bad acting and cheesey dialogue, but it was still very enjoyable to watch. I expect nothing less for Episode 3!

not a spoiler thread idiot.

anyways the movie is about evil winning....it's the later SW's that show it's the war not the battle.

I haven't seen it yet, but in all the movies this one is Darth Vader > *. People are totally missing the angst in it...where many in DV's shoes (boots?) would just kill themselves, he pulls off another Columbine...but keeps going even after death.
