Does China produce anything that is not utter crap?

They reverse engineer and build some pretty damn snazzy cars. A lot of crap too... a metric shit tonne of crap. It's a real measurement, the internet told me so.

China will build whatever, however, AMERICAN companies dictate. I am simply amazed how many idiots love to hate China, when its AMERICAN companies that pay to have their products built there... The Chinese will build an iPhone however Apple tells them to do it, or else they go somewhere else. Thus far, they seem to be doing a decent enough job of it.

If anyone on this forum needs something else to hate on, take a look at all the American companies that are shipping your jobs over there, and then selling you the same product, for the same price, all the while increasing their margins.

That works too, and that's why I prefer to give my money to companies that do the work here. American businesses and consumers are selling out the country 1 dollar at a time, and there's enough blame to go around for everyone.

My impression is that anything with a 'Made in China' label on it is a POS, as opposed to made in Japan, Italy, Germany, or even USA (rare as it may be).
So is there anything made from that country that is actually decent quality?
Something that would proudly make you say, "Hey, it was made in China. You know it's good."

Sorry to shatter your image of American manufacturing, but a lot of stuff made in America is shit too.

That's not to say that things include things that shouldn't be in items (like zinc or cadmium) but rather shit is poorly assembled or of low quality design.

Just look at domestic vehicles.

well no, in a way you go there you sell your soul. go into joint venture with the government to build your own competition, deal wtih countless subcontractors and corruption and the government rigging things because they know you are trapped, along the way control is lost. http://hbr.org/2010/12/china-vs-the-world/ar/1

Hong Kong, technically China, has some fine food.

I like Mexico. They make good guitars, and every time I order something from Dell, there's the prospect I'll find a few kilos stuffed into the box.

ROC =/= PRC.

CF bikes mainly come from Taiwan.

wrong. steel and aluminum maybe, not CF.

The big picture is pretty clear: around 95% of the bikes sold in the U.S. are made in China or Taiwan by a handful of manufacturers of which Giant is the largest.

Generally speaking, low to mid level bikes are made in China and mid to high level bikes are made in Taiwan. The exception is carbon; many manufacturers use Chinese manufacturers to make their carbon frames – even their high-end racing frames.

OP, do you know that most of the laptop and desktop computers (from major brands such as Dell, HP, Acer, Lenovo, etc.) that were made in the last few years are from China/Taiwain?

Even the Almighty IPOD/IPAD/Apple products. Yup, made or assembly in China.

Comp parts and gadgets are mostly made in Taiwan. As much as China would like to think Taiwan is theirs, it is not really part of China. This fact pretty much negates all who who used as examples, iPhones, TVs, etc (unless of course they are going to get all China-nationalistic on me). Again Taiwan != China.

On the flip side of this, most everything IS made in China, so if you have something non-elctronic you like, then the answer to the question in the OP is, yes.

Not that I can think of.

Yes. MP3 ipod-clone players, the very first ones (2006) had video and FM tuners, something that Apple's pathetic iPod did not have at the time.

Also KYMCO motorcycles, they cost $899 brand new and can last up to 10 years and over 100,000 on the odometer.
