Does Boise St. Deserve a share of the national title?

Especially if Florida beats Ohio State, Boise St. and Florida will BOTH sport 3 wins over top-25 teams and an impressive bowl win. The difference is that Boise St. will be undefeated 🙂

I think the AP poll should vote them number 1 if that happens, and maybe even if Ohio State wins. They deserve it. They showed they can beat anybody.

Thoughts?

after last night's performance, they atleast deserve a shot in my opinion. Whether or not they can hang with someone like OSU, would be determined. No one knows if they could play with them or not until the day it happens. That day will not come until a playoff system is adopted.

The AP should give their national championship to the best team in the country, not a team that got slighted. The AP voters should vote for the team that they think is the best; the fact that the BCS trophy will go to Ohio State or Florida should not affect their votes. If they honestly believe Boise State is the best team in the country, go right ahead.

Their strength of schedule is what is killing them. There is no way they will get a share of the national title no matter what......

The bowl system is a joke.

I think a bigger joke is pursuit for precision is determining the #1 collge football team. No matter how many computers you involve, it all comes down subjective opinions on whose #1. And college teams, even more than pro's, have good games & bad. So who's really #1?

I just enjoy the bowl games and don't caught up in all that rankings stuff.

Keep the bowls. Get rid of the BCS. Fans and media need to relax and quit trying to determine a National Champion in Div 1-A IMO. Conference Championships are enough.

Not this arguement again...

It's like a few years ago when Northern Illinois University had an amazing run that put them in the top 10 in the BCS for a while. Everyone everywhere was hoping NIU would be the team to finally prove the BCS system wrong. And guess what? They ended up finishing 3rd in the MAC, and the top team in the MAC (Miami of Ohio I believe that year) went on to a bowl game against Northwestern who was like 7-6 on the year, and even Northwestern could hang with the best the MAC had to offer.

If you think Boise St. can stand undefeted playing in the SEC, or even the Big 10, that ain't happenning. Boise St. will only get the recognition once they can show they can stay among the best in the nation for many years in a row.

If Florida wins, then Boise State deserves the national championship. You're kidding yourself if you don't think that this BS team can hang with OSU and Florida.

Who cares if they had a weak schedule. They won every single game.

Yes, if Florida beats Ohio.

Plus how many of the big boys wanted to play with BSU before the Fiesta? Granted, next year, they might be able to get a tougher schedule, but you can't take away BSU's chances because of their schedule ...

Well if you want to throw out bullsh!t like that...

USC slaughtered Michigan, which were beat by Oregon State, which were bamboozled by Boise State.

why does the national champ have to be top multiple years?

BSU is like Fresno, folks are afraid to play them because they have the heart. BSU will go home and home with anyone...most won't even look at them. Not because they suck, but because a loss to a WAC team looks ugly, and a win against a WAC team looks ugly. Has nothing to do with ability or talent, much like the BCS.

If there was a playoff system, you would see teams schedule tough NC opponants, like Fresno, Hawaii, or BSU more often.

that's quite a stretch, especially considering transitive comparisons in sports never make sense.

They don't deserve a share but they do deserve a shot at it. College football is the only sport where a championship isn't settled on the field in some cases.

No.

But it did provide yet another example on why some kind of playoff is needed.
