I'm sure many of you will discount my opinion with one look at my sig, however....

Regardless of who wins the OSU/UF game, BSU doesn't deserve any type of split title. How one feels about the BCS is a separate argument. Even if you hate the way the system is, thats how it's set up for this season. Just b/c many of us don't like the current system, it's what we have, it's what we will follow. As such, the winner of the OSU/UF game is the national champion, period. I'm not saying you can't have an opinion to the contrary, but not liking the current BCS structure doesn't mean we disregard the way we determine a NC; there was a system in place before any games were played, we can't change the rules after the games are played b/c we find it unfair after the fact or simply b/c we like a different team.

Argue all day to change the system for future seasons, but the team the fulfills the obligations to win a NC in the system we have this year is the NC, end of story.

I read an article where the Michigan coach implied USC was better than Ohio State.

That's because Lloyd Carr is a bitter old man who hasn't been able to coach his way to a win in the big games in quite awhile.

No, I think it's because Michigan barely lost to Ohio State and got trounced by USC.

Yet they lost to UCLA. We can do this all day.

And fUCLA lost to Cal. Big deal.

If people can argue for Boise State today, then they need to admit USC won it in 2003. Kthxbye.

You're missing a critical point....OSU/Michigan is a rivalry game. Coach Tressel has Ol' Lloyd's number and he's starting to feel the heat from the alumni & boosters (you can't keep losing to your rival...where's John Cooper coaching now?). Factoring how close the OSU/Michigan game was will skew your results.

rivalry game or not it was at home game for Ohio State. They were better than Michigan but their defense could hardly stop Michigan from scoring

How did USC fare in that rivalry game with UCLA again?

Rivalry games are a different animal.

i will be the last one to bring up the rivarly excuse for the UCLA game, as much as Pete Caroll wont admit it they just didnt show up. they had beaten UCLA like 7 straight times, anyway, its a moot point, i think given everything that went on this season, the NCG match up is probably correct, florida was the most deserving 1 loss team I think (y'day's rose bowl probably proves it)

If you believe that boise state who did not play a tough schedule deserves part of the national title for beating an OU team that has not been whole for 8 weeks, then sure. The same OU team that lost to Texas, and Oregon (well not really to Oregon).

That OU team to me was the weakest team in the BCS and I always root for the Big 12. If beating a team the wasn't even in the top 10 for your bowl game is equivelant to playing Ohio State or Florida, then maybe they should get an hororable mention. What boise state needs to do to get some respect is go play some of the big boys at their place and win. That would get them a shot at the National title, but even this team IMO would not have gone undefeated in the SEC, Big 10, or even the Big 12.

Regardless, Oklahoma was one correct officiating call away from being throwin into the national championship mix.

Like I said before, Florida has had a tougher schedule, but the tradeoff is that BSU is undefeated, and Florida IS NOT. That makes it a split, and I hope to god the pollsters realize this.

Afterall, the 1991 Miami Hurricans were able to somehow win a share of the national title with the 1991 Washington Huskies despite them BOTH being undefeated and Washington being much more dominant on a much much much tougher schedule.

Oh, btw...if AP votes Boise St number 1...that in no way gives them a share of the national title. The national title (for better or for worse) is now decided by the BCS Championship game.

The 2003 USC Trojans won a share of the nation championship by way of the AP poll.

In 2003, the BCS Championship game determined the national champion. And it wasn't the Trojans.

The bowl system is a joke.

The BCS is a joke, thus doesn't that mean NCAA Football is a joke? I think so

But if the NCAA is a joke, doesn't that mean the entire college system is to blame? And if the entire educational system is to blame, isn't that an indictment of America? Well, I'll be damned if I'm going to stand here and listen to you bad-mouth America! Gentlemen!

Nope. USC is ALSO officially considered the national champs of 2003 by the NCAA record book. They also got a trophy. They also got all the awards. Sports Illustrated also had the same product available for USC about their national championship season.

Link? This NCAA Championship History page doesn't even list Division I football. It was my understanding that the NCAA doesn't ever officially recognize a division 1 football champion.

They also got a trophy.
Was it the BCS trophy? No.

What awards? Do these awards include the words "BCS Championship Game Winner"?

Sports Illustrated also had the same product available for USC about their national championship season.
Last I checked, SI wasn't in a position to be handing out championships.

BS. The AP was the primary trophy before the BCS and is still recognized today. Your argument that the NCAA themselves doesn't recognize an official championship cuts both ways and works against you here.

Ah, but in lieu of the NCAA growing some cajones, the major conferences all came together and agreed to the BCS system in order to determine a champion.

This has been in effect since 1998. The AP poll had a hand in choosing who #1 and #2 is for the BCS Championship game. In 2005, the AP left the BCS ranking and is completely irrelevant now. Dullard's poll is as relevant as the AP in determining the champion.

I'm not saying it is a good system but it is the system we've had since 1998 to determine who the champion is in Div I College Football.

If by some chance Florida beats OSU then you could certainly make the argument that BS being undefeated at least deserves a share of the championship, however I think Fla is going down hard & despite being an overall joke, this year the BCS isn't going to have much controversy.

I think the AP poll should vote them number 1 if that happens, and maybe even if Ohio State wins. They deserve it. They showed they can beat anybody.

Thoughts?

the difference is that Florida played 11 bowl elligible teams and boise played 2 ... boise would have not surivived in a real conference ... but i do think a play off would be the best

Won't happen because Ohio will massacre Florida.

Not so sure, I think the Big-10 was sort of exposed when Michigan lost to USC. Who have they played? A decent Texas team? An exposed Michigan team?

If anybody's schedule strength should be questioned, it should be Ohio State's.

yep ... people are pretty stupid, but you my man are a smart one... Ohio state hasnt seen a defence yet so watch out :) . Its the D that does the damage ... and Michgan gave up 72ish points in the last two games lol.

I am from columbus but bleed orange and blue :) anyone watch the Ohio state vs Florida game:)

Yeah florida was the underdog for that one too 86-60 Florida baby .... Would have been more but we wanted to play the walk ons too
