I'm a systems engineer and we use JIRA to manage our daily tasks. it's miserable and i hate it. I think if i was a software developer it wouldn't be so bad though, but the way our organization and company uses it, it feels like institutionalized micromanagement.
Is JIRA really a true PM tool? We use it basically as a workflow system and assignment of tasks for like issue resolution, etc. If you're working in an Agile environment or wanted to use its Kanban tools sure but as a replacement for MS Project or something?
Give me well run waterfall over bad agile any day.We use Jira daily, mostly for project tracking. It's usable but it seems like we are doing more tracking stuff than actually doing the work. Jira is not my favorite, but unfortunately my opinion doesn't matter much to the higher ups.
Or.. a well run agile over well run waterfall any day.Give me well run waterfall over bad agile any day.
Or.. a well run agile over well run waterfall any day.
Theres a reason why tons of industry making top down switch to agile. Because its been proven, even in enterprise level projects.
My client aims to be fully agile viable by 2017 eoy. Theyre the market leader in industry.
Unitedhealthcare, bcbs and indev are going full agile too based on what my consultants tell me.
Agreed.A lot of clients and executives don't understand Agile methodologies and just think it means no paperwork. If you have poor results in waterfall then you're not going to suddenly have good results in agile.
