Does anyone use a CPAP and how has it changed your life?

So my ex-significant other has described how I stop breathing in my sleep. Then I start gasping for air, take a deep breath and go back to sleep. I snore very loudly. I've been trying to get a sleep study and a Constant Positive Air Pressure or CPAP for sleep apnea. For 1.5 years my doctors have ignored me, but now they're taking notice. My doctors mis-triage all the time, so I'm not surprised. I'm often sleepy during the day and rely on coffee.

What will they do in a sleep study? I've been told by pulmonary specialist that I haven't slept good for years. A CPAP will change my life. If you use a CPAP, is it that energizing?

I snored alot and keot my wife up many a night. I had surgery and then got a cpap. It mostly stopped me from snoring. I dont always get a better nights sleep because of other issues but it helped. In a sleep study they hook elctrodes up to you that monitor your o2 stats , when you move and when you reach REM sleep. All this helps set up your cpap pressure. I think they should be done atleast 1 time a year or if you gain alot of weight.
