I read a lot - during breaks. During the school year I just don't get to it.
But I read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy all during Christmas Break.

You bet ... just finished Tom Clancy's "The Bear and the Dragon" ... it is superb ... about 800 pages of pure Clancey. This is one of his best yet ... but then I say that everytime he puts out a new one!

Also, just started a fictional account of the fall of Rome called "The First Man in Rome" by Colleen McCullogh ... starts in about 100BC and moves in pretty much real time ... just started it but it is very interesting so far. She has a follow-up to this one that I probably read also, in addition to Wall St. Journal, USATodayMacPaperInc, Drugereport news etc.

Insomnia can be a wonderful thing!

i try, but when school's in session there's almost no time. the required reading is already a killer load to handle, to try and stack that ontop of extra reading is insane. closest i come is when i have to do a bookreportish project where i get to select a book, and usually it's from a predefined list =/

The Vampire Armand by Ann Rice ... finished Friday ... pretty good if somewhat wordy and hyperemotional in places. Gives a very good account of the cast of vampires created by Rice over the course of about 15-20 books. Recommended.

Hmm.. I read a lot, I actually bought the new Tom Clancy Novel: The Bear and the Dragon.. I would agree that it's a great novel, but it's not Tom Clancy's best, I'll say his best is either Rainbow Six or Without Remorse... Without Remorse kick a$$! Gotta love the pressure chamber scene! =)

As for others, well.. PC gamers, Businessweeks.. etc etc.. and yes.. the Dilbert books are the best! I also used to read every single Star Wars books that is at the Library.

Oh.. if ya.. sci-fi people haven't read Author C. Clake's 3001: The final Odessey, u gotta read it, it's soo cool.

Oh ya.. there's also Howard Zinn's People's History of the United States, man that's one freakin powerful book!

oh ya.. I got a question, why the hell when you're in college you start reading some even more stupid books and other literature stuff? I mean, at least in high school we had to read like important stuff that is actually good.. like Shakespere's Hamlet or Hemminway's short stories or Heller's Catch-22. Or even Sophie's world, which is recent but hella good. But in college you start reading these noname writer's short stories and poems, and they arn't even good!! WTF? Boyle's The Tortilla Curtain.. man.. I had to read that in my last english class.. and I'm telling you.... the whole story is a freakin soup Opera! it's only like 400 pages or so (I'm a fast reader, I usually can finish a 400pg book in about a day's worth of reading), but it took forever because it's soo boring and soo much like a soup Opera.. I didn't know people would write this kinda books, and college would actually make you read them!

I read, but not non-fiction. When I buy a book, it comes from the Computers section of the book store or Amazon.

I'd really love to read more, but I don't set aside the time to do it.

Just finished Inventing Money: The Story of Long-Term Capital Management and the Legends Behind It by Nicholas Dunbar.

Also went to the semi-annual library book sale over the weekend and purchased about 25 books.

I read constantly and a very ecectic mixture.

This year so far I count 26 novels on my shelf and I know there is more.

Now reading Clancys Dragon and Bear, this is a long one. I love long books, hate when Im done. This one should take a week as his writing and names are sometimes convoluted.

Any one read Perfect Storm? Easy, quick read but you will learn more about boats, fishing and related technology than anywhere else. Interesting.

Want Wierd? Peter Straub, MR. X or any of his others.

Any Wilbur Smith Fans? He will keep you busy for a year.

Always read a lot for enjoyment even when I had to read a lot of Technical Journals for work.

Alright Toolgirl; another vote for the Trilogy. Don't know how many times I've read it. Have it in a big leather bound edition.

Have browsed the Harry Potter books but also have 'em on tape; great way to surf the net while listening to the tapes.

PRINT WILL NEVER DIE :)

I read all the time. I get in moods where I'll read several books a day (yes, I read very fast, but three books would take me all day). I just finished "The Last Precinct" by Patricia Cornwell, plan on starting the P.D. James autobiography later on this week. I have a big stack of my favorite books, and most of them I've read a dozen or so times.

CGIRL-

How was the last precinct? Like her books but think the last was a little off.

Have you tried Kathy Reichs yet? Has 3 out.
