Been thinking about getting one of these butt know nothing about them. I have no idea about what kind to get, what features to look for and which brands to avoid.

Any guidance and words of wisdom from experienced users greatly appreciated.

TIA

I want an electronic toilet, which is I suppose very similar to a Bidet. I read that in Japan 2 or 3 people a year die from being electrocuted on an electric toilet, maybe it's BS but if true that would be a shitty way to die *no pun intended* I'm curious also, but finding reviews and information is very difficult.

Well, toilet paper is a shitty way to clean your butt. This is why I'm considering a Bidet.

Bidets are very common in Europe and much of South America. We happen to have one in our bathroom - it came with the house.

Bidet

It is not electronic - it shoots a spray of water up in the center area, and is commonly used by women for personal hygiene.

I suppose it would also work if you had a messy butt! :)

A good Japanese brand is Toto. What you might be needing is their new "Washlet" product.

Wow, that would be like pooping in the sink. I did that once when I was drunk.

I don't think you understand how a bidet is used. You don't poop in one - you do that in the toilet and then use the bidet afterwards to wash your butt - if that is important. Good TP is a lot cheaper and more convenient. The bidet is really designed for female douching, etc.

I thought it was also to wash your butt after you did your business. Seems like it would be ideally suited to men since there's something to limit splashing.

this is the one at our house

we got the mid range model. front and back sprayer for woman and butt. variable pressure and massage modes, AIR DRYER :D (sounds like a hair dryer when you use it), variable seat and water temperature control. the aim is quite accurate. the model after this one had a remote control and IR automatic seat cover up/down.

I had one in my host family's house when I lived in France. I never used it, but I always wanted to try...

Good lord. How can Americans be fatter than Europeans when Europeans are too lazy to even wipe their own ass? :p

What model is it and how much did it set you back? It looks like what I'm looking for.

TIA

Exactly. For being "The Greatest Country in the World" we are way behind when it comes to cleaning poo off our rears. I damn near jumped out of my chair when I saw a commercial for adult moist wipes. Not the ones for soothing, just for cleaning. I mean come on, why should the little kids have the superior crack cleaners?

I'm not sure if I'm ready to have water sprayed at my nether regions just yet. Like most in this country, I'm rather set in my ways. I'm willing to try though.

Ahhhhh. I see. I see it now. This...this is how fatties manage to clean their asses after shitting. The mystery is solved.

Bidets are great for people with hairy butts. Not that I know anyone with a hairy butt.

But seriously, if you got dog poop on your hands, would you just wipe it off with a dry paper towel?

This is what American fatties use.

Bottom Buddy

I'm not overweight, nor do I have a hairy butt. I just want to be a little clean than dry toilet paper will allow.

It's funny that you feel the need to be defensive about not wanting to have fecal residue in your butt all day.

I agree. But since they are the majority, we;ll just have to deal with them.

They had them in hotels in Argentina. First time I ever used them, was nice. Do your business, move over to the bidet, spray clean, wipe dry. Cleans better then just smearing the shit around.

I don't know that you need a lot of features, the ones we saw were just plain old porcelain with handles to activate water.
