Yeah, I wasn't specifically shopping for one, but I occasionally check what my local synth store has because I figure it can't be easy to keep the lights on with such a niche specialty, they had a great deal on the one I ended up buying, and with something like this it's invaluable to be able to play it before buying (most places have a decent return policy, but better to not have to return it in the first place). And thanks!
Nope, haven't heard her before, nice track.

That was kind of my journey with it too.

Also on-topic with heavy metal... sort of. Tonight I'm going to an open mic and doing an acoustic version of Metallica's "Sanitarium" on a 12 string guitar :D
One of Metallica's finest tracks from their best era! Nice!

Hope its a fun show.

Also, just finished listening to this album for the first time the other day, did not know this cover was on it, goofy fun.

We watched the movie Heavy Trip this last weekend, if you're into kinda dopey comedies about heavy metal (Tenacious D's Pick of Destiny, for example) I definitely recommend it. Not in English though, subtitled only. Was fun to find out the sequel is already available (the first one came out years ago).

Kinda want a bumper sticker that says "Keep Honking, I'm Listening to Symphonic Post-Apocalyptic Reindeer-Grinding Christ-Abusing Extreme War Pagan Fennoscandian Metal"
Not that I put bumper stickers on my car, but I do put them on instrument cases.

Heard this album for the first time a week or so ago .. i think i've replayed it at least 100 times since then .. I am really loving the fretless bass, it would be the absolute highlight, if not for the amazing Flamenco guitar added to the mix .. it is just so .. mind blowing.. I never thought i would every find anything quite as .. mentally overwhelming or mind blowing as Necrophagist's Epitaph .. but, I am so very happy that I did.

Well, that sucks, about Brent Hinds!
My favorite Mastodon related thing: When I watched Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters on opening night. I was not expecting the majesty or the glory of "Cut you up with a linoleum knife"

Recently encountered the now defunct (lead singer is deceased) Huntress, nice thrash metal

This is a pretty awesome track. Read a bit about her, quite tragic her short life was. Looking forward to giving this a listen on some real speakers when I get a chance.

Not a fan, but that's not bad. I mean, I have some hearing loss and shitty speakers, but I could definitely do a little head banging there.

What I really can't stand is the weird voice some of the leads do. I really don't get it. I mean, sure, it's a decent if you use it mainly for . . . IDK, emphasis? Maybe? How they can do it, song after song. IDK, SMH

This is an aside, but long ago, I did manage to reproduce the sound. I was working at a data center for a now defunct brokerage and I don't remember the reason, but there were a lot of kids there. Kids at work day? Shrug.

As I walked past the security door on my floor, someone seemed to think I was trouble or upset maybe. I immediately used my new "skill." With the lowest and most distorted version I could must, said "children . . " That was a lot of fun.

Well, you can figure out a proper technique, or you can blow out your voice and get vocal surgery after a few years. I've been able to do a decent vocal fry for punk vocals for a long time, screaming/growling are different and I haven't hit a method that works for me yet (I haven't put a LOT of time into it though).

Is that good or bad?
Well I might watch the first time since I was a kid. Lordi did win the international with hard rock hallelujah.

95% it's just crap pop/dance, so I like that she both challenges the norm and give a damn about being "true" metal, so a f*ck you and f*ck you too attitude towards what other think she can do with her music, which I respect.
