I know it is. They play the same playlist over and over again, and it's all stupid ny hardcore garbage.

The guy on XM died's band got played a shitload and it was the worst song I had ever heard.

Avenged sevenfold is carrying the torch nicely. I dont see how you can look at songs like God Hates Us as somehow not "heavy" enough. Sure not all their songs are heavy or "deathy" but I never been into that anyway. (Why would anyone want every word of every song to sound like "roar roar roar"?) Save me is about as true to metal as any song ever was. The longer guitar solos in songs like that are what really got me into the genre. I guess that's really more melodic power metal than death metal...

It's metalcore.

And from what I've heard from their music, its terrible. Lacks... inspiration and just sounds generic.

Its kind of a shame considering that have Portnoy, who is a damn good drummer, but otherwise they're just boring to listen to. No Spark at all.

It's how I feel about Adrenaline Mob, which Portnoy is also in. It has an amazing pedigree with Russel Allen, whose voice I would go gay for, but the music is such medicore, teenager stuff.

Weird considering Russel Allen sang such masterpieces as The Divine Wings of Tragedy and the Damnation Game.

MP was with Avenged Sevenfold to fill in until they found a new drummer. He played on one album and the supporting tour. He recently quit Adrenaline Mob due to scheduling conflicts. He has too many projects going on at once and will probably continue to screw over his bandmates over the next several years.

The lead guitarist for Avenged is incredibly talented; however, I don't care for the band. They try too hard to be metal. I can tolerate the lead singer's voice for short periods of time.

Oh yeah, thats right. I wanted to shove the mike down the lead singers throat.

He tries entirely too hard to be "heavy metal" and fails miserably.

never understood why people hate on metalcore

Because when your entire song, save for about 30 seconds, consists of screaming/growling the lyrics, and the music is just double bass, the same "heavy" riff for 3 minutes, its pretty dumb.

It's club music, nothing more. Along the same lines of dubstep or your average pop song, conducive towards dancing/moshing, but terrible as a song.

On another note, I've been trying to get into Vintersong.

Their music is interesting, it seems to be best described as folk metal with some prog metal mixed in. Never was a fan of the growling, but otherwise, sounds very good.

I don't "hate" on it, just find nothing that makes me want to listen to it, growling lyric, every song is essentially a weak attempt at a Goth statement, just not my cup of tea.

I used to love it all, but it grew more tiresome and tedious after a while. So I guess I moved on for the most part. And trying to listen to every self absorbed band out there just don't hold the same interest like it used to. Listening to someone else's teen angst they never managed to get over just because it still sells music to angry teenagers just don't interest me anymore.

Now, I watch movies a lot more than listen to music if I get the chance to. There's so many movies out there, and so little time to watch them all, you know? Even if you watched a different movie constantly until you died, you still could not watch them all.

Come on, don't overgeneralize. There is plenty of good metalcore out there, even if you don't like it. There is A LOT of garbage, for sure, but you can't argue that some talent went into these songs:

Avenged Sevenfold
Trivium
Killswitch Engage

My issue with "metalcore" is that the bands all sound the same/generic. Essentially, they try to sound like At the gates or old in flames, but not as good. I like it when I can tell within the first 2 seconds which band it is.
