Does anyone know How to Increase Range

I have a Netgear wireless access point and i was wondering if anyone knew of any way to increase the range of the ap. Or if there was a way to make my ap uni-directional?

thanks 😕

Wow, that link had quite a few 'interesting' antennas on it. That said, if your just trying to get better reception indoors. Higher is better. I had some AP's at chest level and some mounted up on the walls (or even in the ceiling). Those ones had substantially better ranges in doors.

I live about 100 yards away from a cafe and what i am trying to do is to be able to connect to my home network from that cafe. Currently i can't even go down the stairs of my apt complex. I'm looking for a way to tweek my existing access point to increase signal strength.

thanks 😕

I believe you should try to get line-of-sight if you can, meaning put it in a window and see what happens.

Hmm, higher is better... I hope my SMC/Orinoco setup works OK once it's setup with the router in the garage... my HomeRF right now works fine line that, so we'll just have to see 🙂

netgear wireless products to my knowledge do not have external antenna ports. Unless you want to open it up and make your own connectors, your doomed.
