(FWIW there is a setting for sub crossover frequency, but obviously it isn't gonna do much of anything on my X-530's ;))

Will you be needing speakers and a sub too?

......yes.

Well, I still have the PB10 in the livingroom here because I haven't gotten very far with my sale yet.

There's four z-560 satellites around here.

I could send along a damaged vifa tweeter as a makeshift center.

I'll have to replace my Pioneer 1014, but I'm willing to do that.

So, that will be $1200 shipped. ($1000 for a friend price)

As for software, I have all the drivers installed, have digital unchecked, have my spekaers et to 5.1, and the bass redirection tab is checked withthe frequency set at 80hz

3 pairs of RCA to minijack adapter cables
only tx-sr601 receiver
firage frx-5 fronts
athena psb400 sub

Thanks.

I thought it worked for some people and I have recommended it as a connection before.

I've seen some people who can't get it to work for the life of them though, so I wanted to make sure I could recommend it in the future.

It seems like several people have gotten it to work with just some small adjustments

honestly man, I loveit......yeah yeah, the card resmaples everythign blah blah blah....it still sounds great....

and yes, DVD-aduio that isn't resampled is marvelous....

Did you have to boost the sub in the soundcard controls like the others?

j/k I don't have a box.

I can't ship, so $1200 and you have to pick them up.

Can I get a deduction for gas costs? And will I get to see some of this "snow" you've been talking about? :p

I can get you a discount on a gay cruise, but that's about it.

It just rained, so I'm not sure how much snow is left.

1. I don't have any sort of sub volume control on my volums screen.
2. as for in the audigy software, I was using bass redirection and set it to 80hz and jsut control the bass at my sub which has an adjustible crossover and a built in 100watt (400peak) amp. as for the wubwoofer volume option, it has always been set at the default of "high"

Ok, so you just use the subwoofer gain controls when you want to switch between the computer and a different input?

as I wrote in a post a few days ago, I recently switched from bass redirection at 80hz to an astounding 45hz, and srt my speakers to "large" on the reciever.

for some reason my Mirage's like the full frequency range and do a GREAT job with slow bass tracks....not very ppunch of course. then, sicne they practically bottom out at 35-45 hz (37 @ +-3dB actually) I jsut let the sub take care of everythign bellow.

truely, it sounds fantastic.

My computer is the only input. I practically rip every cd I have and put it on my pc before I even play them and don't bother with other sources.

the only input is actually the front channels of the 5.1 input. I basically set the reciever to analog and get hte wattage boost wince my reciever does like 80x5 and about 95x2.

as for the subwoofer, I really never touch the thing. the gain is uslaly set at 5/10.

waht I meant was that there are two ways to hook up a sub

1)run you speakers through it and let the crossover filter out what goes back out to the speakers
2) just use the subout on the reciever and use it's built in crossover.

I use the subout and have disabled the recievers crossover.

for the msot part, when playign music, I leave it in alaog and it feeds off of he front two channels that are plugged into the 5.1 analog inputs:)

otherwise, when playing a surrouns sound game or a movie, I set my reciever back to multichannel:)

I would adjust hte software's speaker settigns each time but since msot of my source material is in stereo (CDS) I don't have to really...jsut click to the analog setting on the reciever and I am set

Gotcha.

I figured you might have some other inputs on it that you'd need to drop the subwoofer level back down since you wouldn't need to compensate for the reduced A2 sub output level.

(Like a DVD player, HDTV tuner, Satellite Box, Gaming systems, etc)

EDIT: Sounds like it's very easy with just the computer as a single input with stereo or multichannel as the only selections you need to make :)

In 2-channel mode (music) its ok for a low crossover, but when you are running say full-surround (6.1 DVD Audio) a higher crossover is suggested, not for acoustics, but for the livelihood of your receiver/amp.

A receiver / amp has to make ends meet somehow. Gotta feed the kids.
