any recent PS3 news, like launch date or price?
any idea when eb and gamestop will begin taking preorders even?
haha ATI Developers Dissed the PS3 Hardcore yesterday in an interview saying there was no way that the PS3 was gonna live up to the hype with a off the shelf version of the 7800GTX chipset in it..
PS3 is not impressing me so far.. no version of XBOXLIVE even planned for sony.. no integration with Windows or media center PCs.. just another console if you ask me..
the things that make the 360 stand out isnt the power so much.. but LIVE and the other features that it does offer other than being just a game console.
I might still get one.. but i am using the 360 more for its media center / PC features than a game machine anyway.
I have never used xbox live, so im not sure what your talking about...
but I like the PS2 online service which is just left up to the game manufacturers.
IE... I can play madden or socom online for free for a whole year, without having to subscribe to some extra service.
In addition, I like that the PS2 has a console feel, I already have a superpower computer, and im not looking for another similar device. I dont need my PS3 to have media center or PC features...I just want it to play games and movies.
Xbox live takes your connection out of the picture for hosting. all matchmaking and servers are super high speed and hosted by MS.
it also stat tracks all players in single player mode and ladders for multi that are 100% up to date at all times..
for example.. every time you finish even a single player race in PGR3 it will upload and compare your top times with everyone else in the entire world.
it will also let you watch races that are taking place around the world as its broadcast on PGRTV which is built in live..
Another Example.. built into the new Dead or Alive 4.
are tournament rooms where 10 people will all be able to participate in world wide ranked matches over live.
the peopel waiting in the rooms will be able to watch the matches in progress and winners and losers have thier stats tracked worldwide.
Also.. Live tracks ALL games and reputations of all gamers logged in..
IE.. you want to see what games and how good I am at them you can pull my gamertag up and see my accomplishments in each game.
it also tracks players reputation and if users had a bad rep you can have XBL automatically avoid them or make them prefered players..
you can also use live as a tool to talk to your freinds anywhere in the world through the direct voicechat or voice message system.
live is way more than just a mutiplayer mode liek SOE offers in its junk games...
and for the record i was a big PS2 fan and never subscribed to Live till i got my 360.
all Xbox games now are live enabled.. in otherwords half the game features are locked down unless you have live turned on..
Live is only 5 bucks a month or 50 for the entire year not like thats alot of money for hosted servers and no lag.
as for the media center stuff..
360 is a media center extender.. which means you put this machine in your living room attached to wireless LAN and youre HD TV and HT and it will stream content from your either Media Center XP or Service pack 2 PC...
media center allows the 360 to Stream MOVIES, MUSIC, PICTURES, as well as watch shows from media centers built in TIVO function..
now... you said you have a nice powerful PC set up.. how cool is it to be able to do antyhing on that PC on your main TV and Home theatre Setup all without leaving your couch.
thats the real power of the 360.. its an entertainment box not just a game system.. and Sony has alot of work to do to match it...
just throwing HD capabilties and Blueray into a box isnt gonna do it.
