Some general stuff, like how you like it, what there is to do, students, all that jazz.

I am also interested in majors people chose and how they like them.

Big agricultural program. Smaller then texas though. Big vet program. Small town feel. They finally gave in and we're getting a Target or something next year since they don't want all the small business to be driven out, but were tired of losing in sales tax of everyone leaving to buy stuff. Nothing but fields for about 8-10 minutes in any directions 10 minutes east is Sacramento, 10 north is Woodland, 10 west is Dixon/Vacaville.

Hour and a half to two hours to get to San Francisco or Tahoe, so those are some choices, but gas prices have put a damber on that for some of the poorer students.

Nothing much to do, a lot of small shops like 70% of the city is employed by the uni and it really empties out during hte holidays. I think we're considered the boonie part of the UC's since yes, we do have cows on campus and if you end up living in the Tercero Dorms, they'll be basically outside the door. I don't think we have any 3 lane streets, all 2.

Freshmen can't have cars anymore.

Have you enjoyed your time there?
When touring the campus, everyone seemed really glum and tired.
Also, I have heard that it is a very religious college. Truth to this?
Thanks a bunch for this info, am having a really hard time choosing.

i commuted to UC Davis from Sacramento for three years. Parking sucks and it smells like cows when it rains.

i was a math major and they opened up the new math building two quarters after i graduated. bitches. :(

Not much to do there other than go to Sacramento or SF. Lots of nice little restaurants around downtown Davis.

I live not too far from Davis, and I have a few friends that go there. It's a really nice campus, and area, but it's mostly Asians there. I would've thought about going there but they don't have a business major there. It's a lot of agriculture there, and medicine.

Asians in all the UC campuses. :D

When did you go there? Remember, our campus is pretty spread out too, so all the walking gets to you. We're pretty liberal, not as bad as berkeley though.

As with any college campus, we got the hot girls in summer.

I applied under animal biology. I heard that they have the #1 vet school in the country.

Yeah, it's like a wine major where they have a huge building built for making and storing wine, pretty cool.

How'd you like it?
Any specific things I should know about it?

I liked living in the dorms a lot. It does get kind of boring because it's a small college town, good place to study though.

People from my high school said it's easy at UC Davis. Haha those people failed out after the first quarter. I majored in Electrical Engineering and it nearly kicked my @$$.

It's a great school if you want to be a vet, engineer, or some bio stuff. They have great intermural sports groups for past time fun.

You mean you are not as good as UC Berkeley.

If you read the comment properly, he was not saying that Berkeley was inferior.
He said it was more Liberal.
I sure hope you did not get into that school.

I went to UCD also. Just graduated last year. Never stayed in dorms (I transferred).

Hated the cow smell when it rained. Had to go through it b/c the closest parking lot to the Engineering dept was right next to the cows :(.
Parking is getting harder and harder to find each year.

Campus is pretty decent. it has a small river and is very nice in the evenings to walk/sit there. It is huge, and sometimes walks can be ~20min+ when you have to walk from one end to the other end of the campus. Would definately recommend a bike if you dont have a car.

On campus food includes Carls Jr, Taco Bell, pizza hut express and then there is a cafeteria run by ASUCD (they have pizza, tacos, burritoes, salad bar and other food there). Then there are tons of small shops to eat at in the downtown area.

SF city is 1.5-2hrs away. Tahoe is ~2-2.5hrs away. If you gamble, Reno is ~2-2.5hrs away and Cache Creek Casino (Indian casino) is ~30min away. Sacramento is ~15min away. Town does feels like empty during the holidays. and it gets really hot during the summer.
