a set of 9's against a straight on the board, with an ace taking it? you're an idiot for even staying in the hand when you hit the set.

My belief is that all online poker is rigged. I've seen no proof otherwise.
You bet on the river against 6 other players in the hand, not as a bluff, when even the board had you beat.<hee haw>
What I want to know is, what I did wrong?

Okay, so I'm not going to tell you what I had until the end. Just know that I was on the big blind, and SIX people limped in (including the small blind). I was mid stacked, and the blinds were high (no limit tourney), so without a monster, I don't think I can push here, since with so many callers, at least one or two people are going to look me up.
So I check.
Flop comes:
Ts
Kd
Qs
It's checked around to someone on the cuttoff, who makes a minimum bet. Everyone calls (including me) since we were getting odds to.
Turn comes
9s
Checked all around
River comes
Js
I bet big. Get SIX callers. Can't freakin believe I lost. What I want to know is, what I did wrong?
I had pocket 9s. So I made trip 9s. Another guy had J9, and totally made a straight. A third guy had pocket kings and made quads. The fourth guy had the 8s6h and made a straight flush! And then some dude turns over the Ace of spades and wins with a freakin ROYAL FLUSH
I couldn't believe it.
I'm never playing at partystarspacificultimatetilt EVER AGAIN!
how does one person make a royal and one person make a straight flush with a king of diamonds out there. Also how does a guy make Quads with 2 cards in his hand and 1 king on the table.
EDIT
J9 with those cards on the table, is playing the board.
Also please check the logs because those cards dont work for those hands....
Edit 2
Haven't played poker in a while, I see the straight flush now, still dont see a royal unless the guy had Ks and As. But that would be impossible if someone had quad kings.

Nahhhhhh!
Surely these sites don't exist to MAKE MONEY?
Not at all. Party Poker is a publicly traded company on the London Stock Exchange and in the FTSE 100.Originally posted by: Citrix
yea its all rigged. Since they operate offshore i dont believe there is a gaming commission to go check on them and their gaming stats to keep the games legit.
Assuming that this hand is real (and this thread is not shens), you should have laid down those pocket-9s when 3 overcards hit on the flop instead of calling. And to raise in first position on the river when the board had you beat? And you weren't trying to bluff? wow...Originally posted by: scootermaster
But I know that the expected value of a set is really high with a lot of callers because of the postflop equity. So I made a value check to try and induce a free card because I know I was a small favorite and didn't want to let the other people draw out against a made hand.

They make money regardless of who wins or loses.
