The real harm would come from the extremists of either side being in power. Pres. Elect Bush is not an extremist. Gore with his liberal agenda would of done much more harm IMHOpinion.

Cliton and Gore has been moderate Republicans compared to its party base. This was the primary reason for Nader votes this year. On the other hand I do not think Bush have any strong views on his own, he let his advisors think for him. That's why I am scared that Trent Lott and Friends will try to sneak extremist agenda pass him.

I dont think he is using a teleprompter in those sessions where he stmbles looking for words. In his stand up speeches he is using one, as in the "victory" speech and he does just fine reading the prompter. With the exception that he flat out stares and looks wooden.

It's obvious to me that he doesnt think and speak on the fly very well. He looks as if he if he is choosing his words carefully, and at the same time is unsure if those are the correct words. Not too surprising since he gets bashed for any slip up. It's eroded his confidence in public speaking, rightly so.

I dont see this as a sign of stupidity, but it is huge weakness for a politician. I've worked with many highly intelligent people in the computer industry that could not speak publicly, so I dont look at public speaking as a test for intelligence, but a politician should have excellent speaking skills. It was lucky for GW that Gore was his opponent, a guy with public speaking problems of his own.

Who he picks to help him run the US, and what agenda he sets are more important than the fireside chats are, and how well he governs remains to be seen.

Red,
It's obvious Bush has no vision of the Future like Ronald Reagan did.
Your opinion again.

Heck it was the Party Leaders who Annointed him and it will be those same leaders that tell him what to do.
That's not even an opinion, that is a groundless assumption that has no basis in fact.

They approached him with the idea and I'm sure GW figured it would be fun to be the President so he accepted.
Making things up, well, we all know what that is.

<< Red, that is your opinion.

Opinion
A belief or conclusion held with confidence but not substantiated by positive knowledge or proof.

What I think is sad is that many will not give him a chance and will be "revel" even when good bills do not get passed, America is harmed, and all because of your opinions.

etech,

Thanks for the lesson on epistemology, but no thanks. It appears you are only tolerant of your own opinion an no other.

Red, I don't think anyone could stop you from expressing your opinion. ;)

Sometimes I just want to check and see if that is just your opinion or if you really believe some of the stuff you write.

Since your stated objective is to
"just try to rain on the parade of those who annoyed the rest of us so
much during the last eight years "

I know how much weight to assign to those opinions.

I have my reservations on Colin Powell also. History has not shown that military leaders necessarily make good politicians. Give him some time, he has the respect of many politicians both Republican and democrat. Of course that also is not a ringing endorsement either. ;)

I don't think anyone was to impressed about either president elect this year.
No side walked away with a clean victory.
Both GW and Gore come across as pussy foot politicians.
Americans want someone to stand up and LEAD the country hopefully.
I don't see that happening in the next 4 years.
I see his cabinet running the country, more white haired old money right wingers.
They have this innate desire to put the countries gears into neutral.
Old laws governing us now need to be modified, or laid to rest, or made anew.
I wonder how much capital the bush family has invested in petro products.
See how much policy goes big business way.
*sigh* When will the day be when cannabis is legal.
;)

I just pray that Bush doesn't do much harm while he's in Office. I really didn't like either of the candidates in this election. I thought/think that Gore's a wuss, and I don't trust Bush. Gore tries too hard to sound sincere, but for all his efforts it just doesn't work. Bush, on the other hand, well... let me just put it like this:

I can just picture Bush standing there with his thumbs hooked in his belt, a big sh*t-eating grin on his face, rocking back on his heels, and exclaiming with obvious glee, "I won, I won, I won, nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah!" Then he sticks his thumb on the end of his nose and lets out a big thhhhhhhht!!!!

Oh well, I remain
