Nope, never had an issue with motion sickness, but I have had a handful of game give me a feeling of vertigo. The first one I can remember doing it was Jumping Flash (PS1). The most recent game to accomplish that was Crackdown.

Same here....vertigo. It kinda freaks me out when I'm standing on top of a tall building looking down in Crackdown.

Slightly off-topic....my friends laugh at me and I laugh at myself when I catch myself getting into a FPS and start ducking, bobbing and weeving while I'm in my chair like I'm actually avoiding gunfire.

I don't ever experience any motion sickness while playing games, but after playing Resistance: FOM on the pS3 splitscreen I got a slight headache. That's about it.

My g/f watched me play a FPS today and we both nearly vomited after 2 hours.

Yes. Motion sickness is a very serious problem with video games. They can also cause much more severe problems like in my case for example.

Don't listen to ignorant people who tell you that you lie, it's all BS, games don't cause harm etc. THEY DO CAUSE HARM.

The reason why so many people come to such threads and call people like me liars and fools is because those people are VERY HEALTHY. They don't know what it is like to be ill.
If these people suddenly got sick like I did, they would be saying different things.
Also, saying bad things about video games is bad for business. When I made a thread about this on "gamespot" a long time ago, I got flamed into oblivion... The things people told me... It really hurt. I didn't deserve such words.

The most accurate way to describe how safe video games are, is to say they are safe for the MAJORITY of people. Well, just because the majority of people don't get cancer, it doesn't mean that those who get it feel any better. There are still millions who die from it.

Unfortunately, there are some people who get affected by games because of genetic predisposition to motion sickness, stress, panic attacks, phobias, anger, migranes, depression, etc. If your family has a history of any above problems you'd do well to limit your gaming. Note, I said LIMIT, not stop.

We are all different people and we are all born different. (despite what some say)
Some are born with a weak heart.. Some are born with weak lungs... And some are born with a weak nervous system. These people need to mind how much video gaming they do. It's as simple a that.
It's funny though, how someone with a heart problem or a lung problem is generally accepted better, than someone with a mental/psychological disorder/problem. The mysteries of the brain are still unknown to people for the most part.

Unfortunately when I got sick, no one knew anything about video games. We all just played our SEGAs and Nintendos and had fun. It wasn't in newspapers, internet and books like it is now. I was just a kid I didn't know any better. Now I suffer from severe headaches, agoraphobia, panic attacks, and many other problems all because of my gaming addiction.

I said all this not to scare you, but to give you information that is 100% true and tested. How you accept it and what you do with it is up to you.

Where is this information exactly?

*edit*
Not that I don't believe you but "some guy on an internet forum" isn't exactly 100% true and tested.

Only person that I know personally is my ex-gf... she gets nauseated by FPSes. Couldn't watch me play Half-Life 2 for more than 5 minutes or so or she started to feel sick.

Never had any problems. Only thing I feel once in a while is when I jump off a big jump in a game and look straight down, I feel that falling feeling in my stomach. It's actually kind of cool. I used to get motion sickness on a boat or car (only while reading) but now I have neither. Good ol' FPS cured me.

When I first played Spyro The Dragon on PS1, I learned I had this curse (or is it a blessing??). I mostly can't play newer video games. You'd think the increased realism would help, but no. I can't play, nor watch, friends play games in 3D worlds without getting dizzy. If I continue to watch, I'll surely revisit the most recent meal I've eaten. On the upside, I don't spend a lot of money on games and consoles. The downside, of course, is that I can't just go kill things with a button to blow off steam. Martial arts is great, but I try to not hurt people, so it's not the same.

Yeah it happens on some games. I find that playing on a bigger screen, sitting in a brightly lit room, and sitting further away helps.

Only ever on halflife and Half Life 2 but I never had a problem with either counterstrike.

Hell yeah. It was especially bad when i had my projector. Playing on a 10' screen may sound like a good idea, but it really isn't. Now i have a 42" plasma at the foot of my bed instead.

don't get motion sick
EXCEPT for on COD4 starting level on 360.

I dunno if it was the pink chicken I ate for dinner, the low FPS, or the shaking boat, but I'll tell you what, it was a BAD combination.

I used to have to vomit after every level of half life, and I actually didn't finish half life 2 because of that reason. Funny thing was, I was a huge FPS gamer, I used to play Quake and UT for hours on end, sometimes in non-stop 8 hour sittings. But I could not take one hour of Half Life.

Turns out Valve uses a very narrow field of view when rendering its games, 75 degrees instead of 90. There is a command-line switch that fixes that on the PC. Console gamers are not as lucky.
