My g/f watched me play a FPS today and we both nearly vomited after 2 hours.
Yes. Motion sickness is a very serious problem with video games. They can also cause much more severe problems like in my case for example.
Don't listen to ignorant people who tell you that you lie, it's all BS, games don't cause harm etc. THEY DO CAUSE HARM.
The reason why so many people come to such threads and call people like me liars and fools is because those people are VERY HEALTHY. They don't know what it is like to be ill.
If these people suddenly got sick like I did, they would be saying different things.
Also, saying bad things about video games is bad for business. When I made a thread about this on "gamespot" a long time ago, I got flamed into oblivion... The things people told me... It really hurt. I didn't deserve such words.
The most accurate way to describe how safe video games are, is to say they are safe for the MAJORITY of people. Well, just because the majority of people don't get cancer, it doesn't mean that those who get it feel any better. There are still millions who die from it.
Unfortunately, there are some people who get affected by games because of genetic predisposition to motion sickness, stress, panic attacks, phobias, anger, migranes, depression, etc. If your family has a history of any above problems you'd do well to limit your gaming. Note, I said LIMIT, not stop.
We are all different people and we are all born different. (despite what some say)
Some are born with a weak heart.. Some are born with weak lungs... And some are born with a weak nervous system. These people need to mind how much video gaming they do. It's as simple a that.
It's funny though, how someone with a heart problem or a lung problem is generally accepted better, than someone with a mental/psychological disorder/problem. The mysteries of the brain are still unknown to people for the most part.
Unfortunately when I got sick, no one knew anything about video games. We all just played our SEGAs and Nintendos and had fun. It wasn't in newspapers, internet and books like it is now. I was just a kid I didn't know any better. Now I suffer from severe headaches, agoraphobia, panic attacks, and many other problems all because of my gaming addiction.
I said all this not to scare you, but to give you information that is 100% true and tested. How you accept it and what you do with it is up to you.
