Does anybody still play Xbox Live?

I have not touched more than a few times in the last month or two. My brothers keep taking the thing to their friends' houses and it is always in a bad somewhere. It is just too much trouble to set up all the time just to have it taken from my room a day later.

However, when Midtown Madness 3 rolls around, I will stop being lazy because I love that series and voice will just be great.

not in close to 6 months .. my friend fired it up 2 days ago to play Recon and took 10 minutes to find a game.

I haven't played it in a while, no time. If they had a few mmorpg's that didn't charge a monthly fee... then I would be on it 24/7

Why did Microsoft neglect direct-dialup?! I mean, sure a modem is inadequate for Internet gaming but directly dialing your friends would be perfect (X-BAND for Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo proved lagg-free gameplay over 28.8k was possible with direct dial-up and the games were not even designed to be used with it!). Killer Instinct and Mario Kart were awesome! Penny Arcade says it all (Exaggeration of XBOX Live's inadequacy for 2D fighting action games).

Neither of those two had voice over IP though so just with that, XBL needs a lot more bandwidth than just an 8 player gameplay.

Uhhh, neither to any of XBOX's system-link games

It's "unofficially" supported for Live! though

Not since Jan, although I am still playing my Xbox. Mechassault is the greatest game for Xbox Live in my opinion but the developers of it fail to admit that on their end is a major major MAJOR networking/connection issue, such that to play 2-3 10 min games you can often spend an hour total time. It was getting to the point where about 1/3 or 1/2 tops of my time in front of the screen was game time and the rest was playing with network issues. It's only on that game; the other XBL games from what I've heard have no such problems.

Come June Midnight Club II will probably be my next XBL game although there are some others coming out as well that I really like the look of like counterstrike (god knows when) and some others, but right now other than mech assault there are no XBL games I'm interested enough in to sink the cash down on a game.

"never tried it, didn't see it as being worthwhile for the price" - bonk 102

50 bucks for a year of service is too much?! Jeez you're cheap!

In comparison, how much does going to 2 or 3 movies end up costing and then it's over after a few hours?

I never got around to buying it yet, but it seems that it's not worth it. Very sad, I would enjoy playing on the net.

i hate to say I told you so
What do you mean? You can't take a small number of people here to gauge the success of Xbox Live. It's got an awful lot of subscribers and a lot of games coming out support it. It's still, in my mind, the key thing seperating it from the PS2 (Gaymecube is just a kiddy console so I don't compare it).

serioulsy!!! i havent played on a server once becuase i havent had my tv/cable connection set up in my room yet...........
that should be done soon. and then i will be playing on it for sure 😀

I can't think of a single "MUST HAVE" XBOX game that equates to Zelda or Metroid. I would say Splinter Cell but that has (Thankfully) changed 🙂

Geez, I hate when *fanboys* sound off.

Get an Xbox AND GC or PS2 and you have little to complain about as *MOST* of your gaming needs are *met*.

I hope you don't mean me because I DO have it all. 😀

That means it's an informed opinion, not a "fanboy sounding off" 🙂
