I think you're being pessimistic. You must be seeing your strength and stamina improve already. Just because you can't see physical differences doesn't mean that others can't.

Sometimes (well often) i don't want to go, but I do anyway, because I know I need it. I generally do cardio, haven't done weights for 2 months, I feel so mushy now....

I go 5 to 6 days a week and generally lift weights and then do cardio for about 45 minutes. I enjoy it.

Well, that kinda was my point. Even though you might not be able to see a change in appearance, it is there if strength and stamina is improved.

BTW-I've never been to a gym. I don't feel like being laughed at. I'll workout at home.

I enjoy going to the gym, and lifting. It makes me feel so much better about myself. Then there's also the other factors:

Strength
Agility
Health reasons
Confidence
Attractiveness by being in shape

I have completely eliminated soda from my diet along with beef, and I feel so much better about myself. I keep up with my exercising and stuff in my blog.

Type-1, I'm guessing? What types of insulin? I'm 23 and a type-1 as well.

I did this a few years ago. :D

here's the thing that sucks the most, I have type II...and I'm 5'6" 132lbs 7~8% bf 26" waist. when I first found out I was devastated, I absolutely couldn't believe it could happen to me. but over the past few years I have come to accept it and realized that I needed to change the way I lived my life. but I feel your pain, dealing with Type I my mother actually has it and it pains me to see her suffer.

if working out isnt enjoyable, and feel that its more a chore, then i can't imagine you working out for more than 3 months.

the only time i don't feel like working out is if im too tired after working. i dont' work no more so i dont have that problem. =)
