Your ignorance is stunning.

Did you finish that reading assignment of the US Electoral College system?
Do you have any questions about it?

I think the statement about the president was just to rile you. I think the real point he's making is that you can't call ~20% a mandate for war.

I know how this weird system works and I also read "Stupid white man" by M. Moore - good read. And that just confirmed what I have been thinking about the election since the whole Florida desaster started

btw I dont care he is not my president but to get rid of those comments they could just have repeated the election - without irregularities

besides when factoring in the number of not voters that isnt even that wrong 😀
And Fencer: yes

You can't, but if by the grace of god the UN votes pro-resolution 2 then hopefully the british population as a whole will support it.

OK, you are a total moron.
WOW you read "Stupid White Men" and now you think you know everything about America!

They do a pretty good job of documenting many of his half truths and outright fabrications that you read in his book.

I'm done with you.

Yes - as the opinion polls suggest (and I know from talking to people) the only way to get real support is to get a 2nd resolution.

Other than his adoration for Bill Clinton, I like Tony Blair for the most part.

Iain Duncan Smith is pretty good? Don't do that to me I almost fell off my chair, he's a no hoper and I voted for the Tories in the last election.

wow u seem to read alot more in the letters I typed than there are letters, but in which part of my post did I mention I know all about America? Sigh, If u want to know it I learned about the electoral system of yours in a public Highschool of yours - but as I learned in "stupid white men" this exactly might be the reason I got it wrong 😀

I think you'll find that the anti-war people are the ones who usually vote in these silly polls, try to break into highly guarded military installations, do pointless protesting and go to Iraq in buses and then come running back home when they get scared of evil Saddam.

Imo when the bombs start falling the silent majority will get more vocal in their support for the war and the anti-war people will return to hiding under their beds where they belong.

Some of the American members here might not of heard about all of the stupid English people who went to Iraq to be a "human sheild". Saddam wanted to put them into military installations (almost certain death for all of them) and they all came running back home.

Rubbish - I've not seen a SINGLE poll suggesting other than I've already stated. Just because you'd like to believe that only "anti-war" (whatever you mean by that) people vote in polls doesn't make you correct.

If you have some sort of "I hate protesters" hidden agenda - show it - don't try and twist another arguement to make such a point.

Andy

No offense, but contrary to the silly polls the polls that are usually referred to in this thread are representative, that is including the silent "majority for war" - which amounts to the 20% mentioned by Skoorb

Pull some facts out of your ass to refute my argument or STFU, Andre.

I'm sorry, but do I know you? No. You do not know me. Next.

Blair is not there to support the US. He is there for the Brits. They will decide if what he is doing is appropriate. I see people here with the attitude that he is doing a great job because he is doing as Bush wants. Maybe he does feel that way, but I guarantee that if Clinton did what he thought was best and that went against popular opinion many here would be frying him because he is not representing the US people.

Now for a response you can understand "Pull your head out of your ass and STFU" Was that easier for you? Need a link?

What do you have to say about the number of British people who went to Iraq to support them and have since returned because they didn't like what they saw there?

As for the polls, I guess you havn't seen the countless polls conducted on skytv news.

How do the small number of people who did that have anything to do with the current public opinion? I'm not following. It seems you just want to have a go at protesters. I don't see how that relates to the relevancy of the polls at all.

No I haven't. If you care to link then I'll make my judgement and will apologise if I'm wrong.

The people who went to Iraq "ARE" protesters, they came back appalled by their treatment in Iraq. If Saddam does that to people who are "supporting" him then what does he do to people who don't?

Just turn on sky news, the polls are on there right now.

You confuse people who do not support war at all - with those who support a war *if they believe it is being handled correctly*. I think your "these polls are not relevant" arguement is extremely muddled.

Just turn on sky news, the polls are on there right now.

I'm sorry - but I don't have access to cable/satellite.

Your a typical protestor, you never answer questions, have no solution to the problem your protesting against and generally just wasting some time until your next Giro arrives.

I answer the questions. Your arguement hasn't (so far). Insulting me because you can't debate the point isn't particularly fruitful.

Andy

BTW I don't collect Giro's, I am not against the war (I thought it would come to that anyway) but I do object the way it has been handled. Maybe when you stop presuming so much and just go with the facts this can go somewhere.

gah! fix the quotes!

B00ne - the way our electoral system works the way it does is so that the larger states can't wield the "tyranny of the majority" over the smaller ones

After we take care of Iraq and North Korea, then make France surrender by glaring at them. He can have Chirac's old job

but that would be more like a slap in the face, being surrounded by that many frenchmen...maybe get him a job in the executive cabinet: Secretary of Butt kickin'?

actually its more like 25% (51.3% of the voting age population voted for pres in 2000)
or 34% (67.5% of the registered voters voted for pres in 2000)

though, in theory, if you got only a single person majority in states with high electoral college reps/person (all those states with 3 electoral reps) and none in the states with the lower electoral college reps/person, you could get under 25% even with 100% turnout. given turnout trends its not impossible to be elected pres with ~12.5% of the voting age population's vote
